Starting to feel much better about the OTT trade. Say we got LA's or worse BOS/TOR/EDM 1st. All of those teams would 1. Be ahead of OTT in the standings and 2. Probably get out of the first round. So let's say avg draft pick between those four is 22. OTT being anywhere from 10 (I still believe) to 18 is nearly guaranteed to let us draft someone projected to go 8-20 and a very good likelihood of it being a guy projected to go 8-15. With the way we are playing and not the toughest schedule I feel soooo much better about drafting 7th and 14th than I do 7th and 22nd.

In the 2016 draft it was pretty much the same Keller (7) Chychrun (16) Six years later and we draft Benson (7) and Dragicevic (16).

I love the draft. After every pick, I say "who?"
That was actually one of the fun things about going to watch the draft at the Gilbert rink last summer. I don't know much about these guys either, and I didn't have much to contribute, but listening to many of the posters on here talk about them live in real time was pretty entertaining AND educational.

Would love to do another draft get together at Gilbert again.

Would be cool to get some more BA style, larger skill players in the mix. Like Fantilli 2nd and then Honzek with the Ottawa pick.

Would simultaneously disappointing but also somewhat reassuring to round out the defense pool by grabbing Reinbacher at 7th and then Simashev with the Ottawa pick.

Does Moser, Valimaki, Soderstrom, Reinbacher, Simashev, Lamoureux, and Duda make a top pool of D prospects? Probably, right? Certainly it’s deep.

Boy, that Honzek sure is a lot like Slafkovsky isn’t he? Very similar out there, IMO. Of course, Slafkovsky was doing on the big stage and against men, while Honzek looks like that against kids in the WHL. I guess that’s why Slafkovsky went 1st and Honzek will likely go in the teens. But Honzek is really impressive. Silky playmaking, really good vision, sneaky stick, and he moves really well for a big guy. Very much like Slafkovsky.
Slaf was 1st OA on Bill's draft list, right?
Honzek might be surprisingly high.

Yep, Strbak, Stramel or Ziemmer for me.

I really like Honzek and Sale, but any of those guys listed would be great.
Combination of Cooley and Sale sounds pretty hot. I think Sale has huge upside just because of his IQ and creativity, his biggest weakness is his top end speed, also he is pretty weak and lanky, but that might be because of playing in one of the top euro league and he has pretty big frame to fill into. He will take about two years but i can see him as 90 point playmaker and line driver, he just need to spend alot of time in gym.

One of my top ten days last year.

Would love to do another draft get together at Gilbert again.

Yes have to do it again.

Same place. Wednesday, June 28th. Time tbd.

Calendar marked off

I’ll come if nobody punches me.

Only if you leave early again

I would come but you would probably punch me, or ignore me.;)

This would top it off. You would be like a celebrity if you came Jakey. I'm not kidding.

I'm pulling for the Flames over Anaheim tonight in overtime so they stay above Ottawa in points. They're at 71 points and Ottawa is at 70 with a game in hand. I've given up on the Ducks catching up to us. All we do is win at Mullett and need teams to stay above Ottawa.

Draft party?? Hell yea, we're there! Last year's was a blast. Might need some reminders of names to faces, but that's ok lol.

Re: Draft prospects - who can tell me about Brayden Yager? Thought I remembered him being considered a top five talent but seems like he's dropping some. Where do we think he'll go and do we think he's someone we'd target?
