Not the 2023 draft, but "2023 off season business" ... Coyotes rights to Axel Bergkvist, Manix Landry, Emil Martinsen, Aku Raty and Anthony Romano expire this summer. Do you see any of them getting a contract offer? Or are these guys all Chayka draft picks that Armstrong doesn't want?

Bergkvist has been putting up solid numbers in Sweden on the back end, and given how thin the organization is on the blue line, I'd like to see him signed, assuming a spot in Tucson is enough to entice him over. The rest ... ehh ...
They tried to sign Landry this past summer so i think they will try again. Raty probably gets a deal as well.

I would think Bergkvist, Landry and Raty to get offers.

Go watch Lambert play. He looks head and shoulders above Geekie right now in the WHL. There is a reason he was supposed to be a top 5 pick at one time. The guy will be a better player than Geekie, and I'd bet money on it. Geekie is slow in a fast mans league. Lambert is fast in a fast mans league.

You may be right about Smith, but based on stats he looks very impressive. I have not looked into the player in detail.
That's absolutely not true. Lambert is very fast and has solid skill but he is heavily inconsistent and often invisible. Geekie is a much worse skater but he is good on both ends of the ice and does everything at least averagely, whereas Lambert is good at like 2 things and horrible at several others. Not to mention he's inconsistent and very often doesn't look engaged. Did I mention he's inconsistent? He's absolutely stunk it up the last 2 years in Liiga, just because he's doing well in the CHL doesn't mean those skills are going to translate to the NHL, Geekie has a MUCH higher chance of actually panning out. Lambert will be top 6 or bust and I honestly doubt he gets there. If he does he'll be really good, we all know that, but there's also a reason he dropped like a freaking rock to nearly 30 spots below his projection.

Raty absolutely SHOULD get a contract. He's more than ready to come over and has good numbers in a mens league already.

Bergkvist could but probably won't. He's small and has just now made the transition to a mens league, and more importantly I'm not sure he's good enough to leap frog any of our defensive prospects not in the NHL Plus he's more of an offensive d-man.

Emil is in the same boat as Bergkvist. I actually like him more though. Not as good offensively but I think he could project better than Bergkvist. Bergkvist is at best a PPQB I think.

Hypothetical here... what do we think the cost of #2 (Fantili) would be? Does whatever team that wins the pick deem it untouchable? Would both the Yotes 1sts and a couple 2nds get it done?

Fair... what about the #3 pick? What would it take to move up to 3 in your opinion?
I think that moving into top-5 is going to be so expensive that it isn’t going to be worth the cost.

Edit: If the cost would be somewhat reasonable and BA had opportunity to upgrade picks in the top 5, you do it instantly. We have the quantity, we need more star potential

I think being the lowest scoring player on a scoring line is an indication that you shouldn't draft that player too early.
Based on what I've read, Leonard is a key component in their record setting success. Still want more points relative to his linemates. Also he's average sized. Not sure he fits Bill's template.

He’s average height but is a tank. Maybe TJ Oshie style?

Tier: Bedard
Tier: Michkov
Tier: Fantilli/Carlsson

Tier: Benson/Smith

Tier: Yager/Dvorsky/Danielson/Honzek/Sale/Heidt

Tier: Leonard/Perreault/Moore/Cristall/Gauthier/Wood/Ziemmer/Barlow/Ritchie

I'm sure that I've missed a couple, but those are the tiers as I see it.

**obvisouly I'm excluding Dmen in this evaluation**

Tier 5 is actually 12 guys, I think.

Barlow, Danielson, Dragicevic, Dvorsky, Honzek, Leonard, Moore, Reinbacher, Ritchie, Sale, Wood, Yager.

So it’s probably at least two tiers for me. I just don’t know how to break them up, yet. I think.

I think I want Reinbacher and Dvorsky. I watched a lot of tape on Reinbacher yesterday and was quite impressed with what I saw.
I think I’m ready to put Honzek over Dvorsky.

I’m having a hard time sorting the order of these guys:

Barlow, Danielson, Dragicevic, Dvorsky, Honzek, Leonard, Moore, Reinbacher, Ritchie, Sale, Wood, Yager.

But I’m pretty sure Reinbacher is the 1st name on the list and Sale is the last name on the list.

I need to dig a little deeper into Honzek. I always thought he'd be a late teen/20's pick.

This is really hard, and I’ll hate this list the very next time I look at it, even if it’s in two hours…

1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Michkov
4. Benson
5. Carlsson
6. Smith
7. Reinbacher
8. Moore
9. Ritchie
10.Yager
11.Honzek
12.Dvorsky
13.Barlow
14.Leonard
15.Wood
16.Dragicevic
17.Danielson
18.Sale

Can’t dig much deeper. Haha. He’s out for the season now. Along with my other two favorites Benson and Ritchie. All my guys got hurt this month. Sucks.

I’m not sure I’m going to bother with rankings this year. I’m just gonna make a list of guys I like in zones of our picks and hope we get a few names from my list.
