I like Danielson better but I like Yager’s pure upside and the C/W optionality.Hager
Keller would love that hehe..This is where trading Scmaltz to grab another 1st to take Simashev makes sense.
$ is higher than cap. We are a budget team that prefers the opposite. I’m also buying in to treating players like nfl running backs. They hit a certain point and you move them before they declineKeller would love that hehe..
eventually tho you think at some point it has to happen
just another chapter in the Strome pic

Two wingers in the top 12? I love Honzek but it worries me a bit.Honzek
Yes!If Reinbacher was a 2024 prospect he’s barely in my top 5 D next year. Just wait for next season to get they D.

I think so too. I have him even with Dvorsky in my ranking for six. My guess is Michkov goes to San Jose, Montreal adds another Slovak with Dvorsky, leaving us with our pick of Smith or Leonard and that's an easy decision for BA and the scouts you mentioned.Sorry to go all Oliver Stone “back and to the left!” conspiracy on you guys. But to me it’s clear that BA is talking about Ryan Leonard.
I trade back three spots to Nashville, pick up an extra second, and pick whichever of Yager, Perreault, or Danielson is still on the board.1. CHI - Bedard

I don't trade back...I take the better player every time. That's what this team needs is "better" players at almost every position. Why drop down and get a lesser player, makes no sense.I trade back three spots to Nashville, pick up an extra second, and pick whichever of Yager, Perreault, or Danielson is still on the board.
That makes sense and making comparisons are always tough because you’re comparing them to something already established. I threw Pavelski out there because he plays like Hartman which isn’t enough to get excited about in the draft at 6… I prefer Dvorsky as of now but everything I read on Leonard is making me fall for the player…. mini Doan?I thought Leonard was 6’1 last season. Haha. He’s that type. You think he’s bigger. I think Pavelski is just too good for a comp. Maybe throw in a Max Domi to balance it out. Landeskog, Oshie, Pavelski and Domi in a blender. Lol.
Hehe someone should sneak this in to BAs office and paste this on the fridge door..If Reinbacher was a 2024 prospect he’s barely in my top 5 D next year. Just wait for next season to get they D.
It’s a very rough comparison since I haven’t spent a ton of time watching film. Or the kind of film that I would consider safe when evaluating a prospect. I need to see what led up to that play. Only really able to go off of what I see in highlights. What I do see is someone that scores NHL playoff style goals. We can sometimes get enamored with the Lisin’s and the Perlinis of the hockey world. Flashy skaters that put it top shelf with ease. With this guy he will go to the tough areas to make things happen to score. It’s why I thought Pavelski might work since he’s less burner and more positional with a great shot. Got a 15 hour bus trip coming up so I’ll have plenty of time to make up my mind on preference by then. May even get a top15 out…Pavelski is such an on point comparable I'm upset that I didn't come up with it myself. The shot, the two-way play, the grit. Someone said Benn earlier but he isn't as big, nor do they really make many players like Benn anymore. Pavelski was Benn 2.0 but back before Benn was even a thing. Talk about a trend setter!
This kind of relates to my essay in the other thread, and something xx brought up. The league is changing to skill and speed but that comes in many forms. We may not see as many grinders and bruisers in the bottom 6, and what is considered a powerforward is changing quickly. To me Leonard fits that new powerforward mold, gritty with great two-way play and can score but more importantly can skate too. Not quite the unicorn that is Svechnikov or Rantanen, but somewhere between them and a Toffoli. Again, Pavelski feels so spot on in every facet.
I think I’m taking Dvorsky. But I think BA would be taking Leonard.Looks like the Team Board Mock Draft is coming at us tomorrow with a choice between Dvorsky and Leonard (and many other prospects).
Mackenzie's top five are taken.
I'll vote Dvorsky too.I think I’m taking Dvorsky. But I think BA would be taking Leonard.
I agree.Me too.
I don't question your analysis of Bill's comments. I think you cracked the code. But I don't think it means he actually will be drafting Leonard. We might catch a faller. Or Reinbacher might pull a Slafkovsky at the WC. Lots will change between now and the draft even though most of the hockey is done.
I don’t think that BA can afford to “be in love” with any one guy. He should be in love with his player board and stay true to it. Somebody ranked higher than Leonard might drop to him.^ BA is saying RJ & Plandowski got him all hyped up on Leonard. Then he went to watch the u18s and the way Leonard played made him “fall in love” with him. When he says the defining qualities do who they’re looking at is that they “play like champions” and that they “play so hard and compete so hard and give it all up for the team”, it sounds like he’s talking about Leonard’s performance.
When he says “they’re playing hard, driving hard, blocking shots with their faces. They’re championship type of players” he must be talking about Leonard’s OT heroics. The PK shot blocking and then the golden goal in sudden death.
Sorry to go all Oliver Stone “back and to the left!” conspiracy on you guys. But to me it’s clear that BA is talking about Ryan Leonard.
These quotes don’t prove that the Coyotes will draft Leonard. The WC hasn’t been completed. The combine hasn’t been completed. Their final scouting meetings haven’t been completed.I don’t think that BA can afford to “be in love” with any one guy. He should be in love with his player board and stay true to it. Somebody ranked higher than Leonard might drop to him.
