As much as I don't think Carlsson drops past 3 I feel like CBJ may love Smith since he's a true center. They have a great two-way center in Sillinger and a top 3C in Rosvolic.

Listening to Chris Peters he thinks Will Smith is a “line-driving” center, he says a lot of scouts he has talked to don’t agree and think his value will be better served at wing. Since Carlsson has not played center all year, he’s getting the chance right now at the World Championship, that evaluation should factor in.

Seeing Leonard, Benson, and Dvorsky go immediately after week pick Reinbacher would be pretty depressing.

a conversation I had with a Columbus fan about the 38th and Vejmelka for LA's 1st, 23rd.

Our young, cheap, staring goalie just to move up some spots? I don’t know man. I don’t think the difference between 38 and 23 is Vejmelka. I would guess he’s got to be worth at least a 38th pick all on his own. Probably close to a 23rd pick, I’d hope.

Seeing Leonard, Benson, and Dvorsky go immediately after week pick Reinbacher would be pretty depressing.

I think we have narrowed it down to a likely list of 3-5 names. Wheeler was making noise in his athletic piece that our scouts like Dvorsky. BA definitely referenced Leonard. If those are both off the table we have a very good and likely preferred option of Michkov. We are in a good spot. We’ve seen the interviews in the past Coyotes set a list and don’t deviate on draft day.

Diving Deeper Into The Transitional Numbers​

Wrong. He was arguably the player who was most relied upon for exits, and had his fair share of entries as well. Starting with exits, he was directly involved in 27 exit attempts. Of those 27, they were able to successfully exit, with possession, on 19 of them (70.37% rate). That high rate of attempts is second to only Bedard (22 in three games).

As for his entries, he was involved directly in 25 entry attempts. Of those, he successfully generated 16 controlled zone entries (64% rate). He’s behind only Smith, Bedard and Zach Benson in the class, amongst players that have been tracked. What’s even more impressive is the seven rush chances he generated off of those 16 entries, which ranked second only to Bedard (10), again.

Yeah, I doubt that Smith ends up 6th. My thinking was Carlsson for Vejjie and Smith. Maybe we can entice the Habs to swap spots 1st and then trade the 5th and Vejjie? I know too many ifs...

I’m not as high on Carlsson as you guys are.

For me:

Tier 1: Bedard
Tier 2: Fantilli
Tier 3: Benson, Carlsson, Smith, Michkov
Tier 4: Dvorsky, Leonard
Tier 5: Danielson, Reinbacher, Barlow, Honzek

That sounds a whole lot better than trading back to get Yager and then some other guys. We have a tremendous amount of draft capital, it's about time we began using it to move up to get the better player.

If we came away with Dvorsky and Leonard I would be ecstatic

I agree with all of this. Unless it were for Bedard or Fantilli I'd rather have two quality prospects with those picks. Even though I think we need more quality than quantity at this stage, we have the opportunity to get quality in quantity in the first round this year.

Definitely be open to moving up the 12th if there was a way. I have no interest in Reinbacher, especially at 6. Not a fan of picking a D in the first round this year.

Washington doesn't have the assets but I would think they'd be all over Philly for that Michkov pick. I'd love to see it played out though to acquire both Leonard and Dvorsky.
