Just further to this. I’ve seen a dubious source on twitter highlight that Montreal with interest in Dvorsky and like i said above everyone seems to link Philli to Leonard. While I can’t find the source i know there was one article which highlighted AZ scouts were heavily interested in Dvorsky and we all here have highlighted how BA was obviously positively referring to Leonard in his presser. So how likely are the flyers and Habs to think they can move their picks and get their guy? Has BA thrown some dhade because of legitimate interest or is he pushing teams into paralysis so he can get someone he really wants or push for the Flyers to give him something to pass on “their” guy. And then i’m probably overthinking this but it does interest me. I just have to find that article that I apparently made up on Coyotes scouts interest in Dvorsky.
It’s also possible he was talking about both Dvorsky and Leonard. His comments all still make sense through that lens. His being a bit loose lipped could be a result of his knowing that one or the other will be there at 6th, if not both.

What's the story on Michkov's game away from the puck? Is he physical? Does he play with a willingness to win puck battles? Is he tenacious? Yes to these should help erase concerns about his size.

He doesn't play defence or physical. Once he has the puck though, you can't get it away from him and his shot is better than Bedard s. He's not a BA type guy so I wouldn't worry about him being drafted by us even if he's still there at 12.

By rights, Keller isn’t a BA guy. (His defensive play did improve last year though. ) I’d draft him at 6 in a nanosecond.

His shot isn't better than Bedards for sure. Bedard has one of the best shots in the league. Michkov IMO has higher IQ and is a better team player though. He also doesn't play the same kind of super high pace energetic style so I think that will lend to his longevity more, he's much more of a cerebral quarterback player who draws up the play and knows how to manipulate guys to get what he wants.

Off the puck he's still okay as he can get some sticks in between passes and his stickwork is good too. Definitely better on the puck, but given he's in the KHL he's probably going to be forced to learn some defense as that's the main reason why he wasn't played with SK this year and was loaned to Sochi. Even if I don't think that's how it should be, that's how the coach is there.

I guess I'm the only one not stoked about taking michkov at 6. He just has so many red flags with him and its hard to swing and miss at 6. No doubt he's an elite talent, but if picks 3,4,5 are passing as well its for a reason. I just hope our scouting is able to research him thoroughly.
His dad mysteriously found dead, not being able to leave until 2026', and who knows about the US russian relationship by then at this rate. hell, maybe he just doesn't want to sign with yotes and we have to trade his rights down the road. Kind of a boom or bust pick with huge potential though.
That being said, I trust our scouting and BA. If we take him I'm sure they did their due diligence.

The 3-year wait for Michkov is overstated. You're waiting likely the full 2 years for any CHL guy and likely the same for any of the Americans too. And that's assuming no AHL seasoning.
Agreed. Late bloomer Doan is heading into his 3rd year post draft, 4th if you include his first USHL draft eligible year.

If michkov is there at 6. You take him and be thrilled. I expect him to be gone. So likely Dvorsky or Leonard or whoever the scouts like.

I would be ok with Dvorsky and Benson.
Dvorsky and Leonard or two of the three.

Seems odd there isn't more discussion about the Swedish dman and everyone in Forum40 is hyperfocused on Reinbacher.

I suspect the first 3 picks will go as expected and from there a veritable crap shoot.

At this point, I will just have to trust how BA and staff use picks 6 and 12.

Anxiously awaiting one of those behind the scenes videos of BA and Staff discussing this year's draft selections.

I was a big Lisin fan and still have a jersey. I certainly hope MIchkov is a better player.
No reason to compare to Michkov though.....I doubt any of us had heard of Lisin before he was drafted. 3rd round? Fact checking myself now....2nd round 50th overall.

That was a pretty awful draft....if I'm not mistaken 9 of the players drafted in the 1st round either should have or did wear a Coyotes jersey at some point.

Good point as was the point Button made about him likely being able to contribute on day 1 of his entry-level contract.

Speaking of that video, the point they made about prospects making sure they are ready for the NHL, and examples of Makar and Turcotte, I'm glad Guenther was sent back to Junior hockey and I hope Cooley goes back to Minnesota

Redline had Lisin ranked in top 15 i believe that year. Those of us who are draft geeks knew all about him.
