My desire to take the risk on Michkov skyrocketed now that Bedard is in the division.

Honzek is an interesting case, seems like NHL execs and staff are much higher on him than most non affiliated rankings/lists. Pronman mentioned in the Athletic mock draft tonight that several scouts of various teams view him as a candidate more likely to go top 10 then closer to 20. Yzerman and a bunch of other Red Wings brass were at his final 2 playoff games in Vancouver, and Washington’s GM ha gone to see him in person quite a few times. Would be interesting to see what his numbers looked like in the W if you swapped him and Benson.1.Bedard
2.Fantilli
3.Benson
4.Carlsson
5.Michkov
6.Smith
7.Dvorsky
8.Danielson
9.Reinbacher
10.Barlow
11.Leonard
12.Honzek
13.Yager
14.Moore
15.Wood
16.Ritchie
I want Benson. But I think we’ll pass on him.
I’m hoping for Dvorsky as a more realistic option. I think we could all universally get behind a Dvorsky pick. Feels kinda perfect. A very safe, very pro ready center. Allows us to do really whatever we want with 12th, no matter how crazy.
6. Reinbacher 12. Gabe Perrault
6. Reinbacher 12. Matthew Wood
I watched Honzek and Benson both quite a bit in the WHL this season. I like Honzek a lot. He’s nowhere near as talented as Benson. But I do Hinn Honzek is really underrated and I’d be very happy if we picked him 12th.Honzek is an interesting case, seems like NHL execs and staff are much higher on him than most non affiliated rankings/lists. No chance Smith will available at our pickChicago- Bedard
Anaheim- Fantilli
CBJ- Carlsson
SJS- Michkov
Montreal- Dvorski
Yotes- Smith
7 8 9 10 11
Yotes- Honzek
Michkov should go #3, but I don't think Columbus wants to wait for that KHL contract. Not sure if Montreal does either. Michkov goes to the Sharks or us. If he falls to us they'll hear my scream in Moscow.
Normally I would agree but I've heard several times today on different sites that Montreal really likes Dvorsky. Doesn't mean they're taking him but if they do he has to fall to us.No chance Smith will available at our pick
I love Leonard but at #6? I don't know if I like Stenberg at #12 either.With BA’s comments about the U18s, I wonder if we’re taking Leonard 6th and Stenberg 12th
His comments, when I listened to them again, really strike me as meaning Leonard and Dvorsky.Normally I would agree but I've heard several times today on different sites that Montreal really likes Dvorski. Doesn't mean theyre taking him but if they do he has to fall to us.
You think he goes to Montreal or Michkov slips?
I love Leonard but at #6? I don't know if I like Stenberg at #12 either.
Don’t see the habs taking Dvorsky. We already have Suzuki and Dach who are mostly better than him and who could do the same work. The “consensus” top 5 is…
1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Smith
4. Carlsson
5. Michkov
Fantilli was no lower than 3rd on any ballot. But all of Smith, Carlsson, and Michkov got at least one 2nd place vote. That’s a full tier.
Could any of those 5 be unseated? I think the most likely off the board pick is Dvorsky to Montreal at 5th. There are rumors from the same sources that knew they didn’t like Wright and would go with Slafkovsky. I could see that. So that would mean Michkov falls to us, right? Well, what if he’s not there at 5th?
Let’s say that Chicago takes Bedard, Anaheim takes Fantilli and then Columbus does a somewhat but not altogether surprising thing and takes Michkov. It’s totally plausible. So then San Jose picks between Carlsson and Smith. They’ve picked a lot of Swedes but Grier is a BU hockey guy, through and through. Smith was the consensus 3rd overall on Bob’s list. Maybe the Sharks take Smith?
Does Montreal still take Dvorsky over Carlsson? Maybe. It could happen.
Leo Carlsson would be a very big get at 6th overall.
Leonard’s 51 goals puts him at 10th all-time in single season goal scoring in the history of the NTDP. His 94pts puts him 12th all-time in single season points at the program. His comments, when I listened to them again, really strike me as meaning Leonard and Dvorsky.
Leonard’s production this year I think makes him a reasonable candidate for a team at 6th overall.
Same old coot who did hours of videos on why Wright sucks and Habs will take Slafkovsky. He was on that for weeks and weeks. Same this time around with Smith sucks and they want Dvorsky. Maybe he’s a broken clock. Maybe he’s connected. I don’t know.Don’t see the habs taking Dvorsky. We already have Suzuki and Dach who are mostly better than him and who could do the same work.
What is the source?
Smith available there’s absolutely no way habs take Dvorsky. Habs GM is probably who knows Smith best.
Also worth noting the McKenzie poll had Dvorsky 6th and Leonard 7th.Leonard’s 51 goals puts him at 10th all-time in single season goal scoring in the history of the NTDP. His 94pts puts him 12th all-time in single season points at the program.
Let’s look at draft years:
Ryan Leonard: 57gp 51g 94pts
(3rd, ‘22) Cooley: 51gp 27g, 75pts
(5th, 22) Gauthier: 54gp, 34g, 65pts
(13th, ‘22) Nazar: 56gp, 28g, 70pts
(14th,22)McGroarty: 54gp, 35g, 69p
(23rd,22)Snuggerud: 59gp, 24g, 63p
Oh Grant Mccagg? He’s not a reliable source on the habs specifically but he still has contacts in the scouting business, he has friends who gives him their thoughts on players and who the majority of scouts mostly like so he knew scouts weren’t high on Wright anymore.Same old coot who did hours of videos on why Wright sucks and Habs will take Slafkovsky. He was on that for weeks and weeks. Same this time around with Smith sucks and they want Dvorsky. Maybe he’s a broken clock. Maybe he’s connected. I don’t know.
He’s extraordinarily irritating. But he was spot on last year. And way ahead of everyone else.Oh Grant Mccagg? He’s not a reliable source.
I don’t think i’ve seen him say the habs liked Dvorsky. He himself likes him a lot, though.
Absolutely. If Michkov falls to us at 6, we HAVE to take him.My desire to take the risk on Michkov skyrocketed now that Bedard is in the division.
Yeah, he knew majority of scouts soured on Wright before it really was discussed publicly. Tried to tell people but most didn’t want to listen so he started to go way too hard on the Wright ‘’bashing’’ to prove his point. He’s extraordinarily irritating. But he was spot on last year. And way ahead of everyone else.
I also don’t like him. I also think there’s a good chance it was a broken clock scenario. But I’m not going to be so dismissive as that, after the guy battled all of Hab fandom online and then got to do a victory lap. I wish it happened to a better guy. But it was this guy who nailed it. And he’s got my attention.Yeah, he knew majority of scouts soured on Wright before it really was discussed publicly but he doesn’t have any info about the habs, no one did until the end, his gut feeling was right though.
