Happy 18th birthday to this future Red Wing!

Scouching last year and this year has lost the plot.

Simashev 7 and Leonard 15? Brindley at 9 and But at 10?!
Whitelaw at 19? The guy is reported to be a coach's nightmare.
Dvorsky at 36? Barlow at 41?
Ok good, i thought a lot of these places were just bad lol. I'll cross them off the list of paying attention to them.

I can appreciate that Scouch is a hard data guy, but if those are his rankings based on the data he collects then maybe he's getting shitty data.

Tons I disagree with (duh) but I can't hate it because it's one of the very few list (or only) that ranks both Clark and Vesterheim in the top 100. Two of my favourites this season and highly underrated. I'm curious to see how the whole thing is going to look like a few years from now.

The range of opinions on Dvorsky is unreal. He's all over the place on draft lists.

You can try to act like international tournaments don’t matter, but it’s the only reason people have Stenberg in the first round.
I think they're fine when done in moderation. Saying a kid at either end of the spectrum (buried in a talented lineup or stuck with nobody around him) has untapped potential based on finally getting a few games on a bigger stage to strut his stuff is fine.

The problem is how binary people tend to react. Either <Tournament X> is ironclad proof as to why somebody's stock should skyrocket, or it means absolutely nothing and should be ignored.

It makes for interesting clicks. But in reality it's just one tool in the toolbox for overall evaluation.

We should trade

Honestly that’s kind of how I feel about him in a nutshell. Same with Danielson. On the one hand I love the package and potential for the most part but the raw numbers aren’t great. But then you’ve got Dvorsky blowing up the U18s as evidence of his production capability and you have Danielson who was basically an island on his team this year, which IMO is a good “excuse” for lower production, so there’s good evidence going against them being lower production players. So I don’t know what to think. I’d still be happy with either selection but I’ll probably be worried that we passed on a guy with higher upside to take either guy.
