The issue with Manson is his NTC. Without that he'd be easy to trade.

Toronto has plenty of cap space and is looking specifically for a RD with size and some grit according to Friedman. If we were to offer Manson Treliving would jump on the phone.

Manson's play has picked up a lot of late. I think we'd want to keep him at least as long as this season's playoffs. And then come June 15, he has to submit a 12-team no-trade list. I can almost guarantee that there is a team we'd be able to make a deal with if we want to move on from him this summer. I actually don't think we'd have to pay all that much to make him go away either, but I would be advice caution as we don't really have a physical type dman to replace what he and EJ have brought us over the years. That type of play becomes so much more important in the playoffs.

I'm all for Lindholm as a rental. The Avs have to win now before Mikko's contract is up and they're not going to do it without a 2C.

Last I checked we have the 3rd most points in the league. I think we are doing just fine considering Lehkonen is out and we have injuries to Makar, Nichushkin, Manson, Girard, Cogliano and others..

I too think Manson would be really easy to trade (if healthy). There's a premium for RD and another premium for physical dmen. He is both.

He’s obviously not going to get traded barring an absolute insane trade, but again the post was made in jest. If you want to get into the merits of trading Rantanen, however unlikely it is I’d happily debate it with you.

If not, RyJo+ for Kadri probably wouldn't be all that expensive of a deal for us asset wise and I think the Avs would have a reasonable easy time fitting Naz into the cap situation next year.

I'd do that yesterday. However, Calgary is still in contention for a WC spot, so I doubt they trade anyone else (had to trade Zads) until the deadline, or unless they fall way back.... or uless they get players in return that can help them now.

Compared to RyJo and Tatar, I'm sure the Avs would love to have him back, and I would be willing to bet he'd like to have the Avs back as well.

They could have matched it over 8 years for 6.1M AAV and they didn't. On top of that Kadri really wanted to stay...so chances are anything close to 6M X 8 Kadri would have jumped on that.

Now Kadri is even older, no longer comes off a great season and is making 7M AAV instead of 6. Avs would be interested all of a sudden? Absolute, pure nonsense.

I just don't see Calgary retaining that long. However, I also don't see anyone wanting Kadri and that contract either. To be honest, I don't want Kadri, even at 50%, adding another red arrow to our capfriendly page. Red arrows should only be given out to players on the underside of 30.

In the end, I think he'll be traded and there will be retention, but it'll probably be several years down the road, unless he publicly asks out. He's got a full NMC until the 26/27.

You’re right Rantanen has been flawless this year and his effort is never being called into question… Hell I’d argue, MacKinnon, Makar, Toews and Nichuskin have all been better than Rantanen this year.
