Depression is a person by person case. You never know how long it'll take someone to get back to a place where they're comfortable again.
So, I bet the Avs don't even know right now. They'll probably wait a few weeks and see how G is doing/feeling. Then decided to LTIR him or not. I bet if goes on LTIR, he's done for the season, but if they don't place him there, then he'll come back this season.

In G's case I would say hope for the best but expect the worse and the worse case is not seeing him again until training camp

Prosvetov looks pretty good as a back up. He looks tall in net and confident too. I wonder if Avs got another steal.

Bobby Ryan came back from this IIRC and scored a hat-trick in his first game back.
I think he still has issues though.
Definitely hard to picture any sort of positive NHL outcome from this. Most who enter the assistance program either are cooked immediately or very shortly after their NHL return.
Hope Girard gets all the help he needs, but there's a strong possibility IMO his Avs career is over.

So 18m for 6 players or 15.15m for 8 players. And the difference is 8 points. You're reaching for a problem here.
He was hit to head. No surprise he wasn't playing optimally.
Those guys did nothing in the playoffs.

Based on absolutely nothing at all, I’m optimistic that G will figure this out and come back.
And our current guys are just heating up, while I think our ex players have started well but might fade later on. That's would be my guess.
Who is this year's Eller? I mean who are we going to overpay to spend 10% of our funny money on? Hopefully someone who produces more than 2 goals this time lol

I said this half jokingly in another thread earlier today but honestly CMac should be blowing up Bill Guerin's phone every day right now to try and convince them to blow that team up and send us JEE in doing so.
His cap hit and his skillset is quite literally the perfect fit for our 2C needs. Would instantly extend the window 2-3 more years.
Byram+ or Ritchie + Goulash + or whatever the hell they want. And send Johansen or Manson in the deal to offset salary(Not sure Manson would waive this year to go to the Wild but maybe in the summer).
And the thing is if you get JEE, even if Landy comes back next year, it wont take a lot of work to get cap compliant still. Just need to move one Dman essentially. And then you get to run a Top 9 forward group of:
Nuke - Mack - Mikko
Landy - JEE - Lehky
Wood - Colton - Kovalenko

Did this with cap friendly, only had a few comments but apparently Byram+ wouldn't be enough but I added Faber just to get a cheaper dman back, who is already equal to Byram.

Agreed. He would've been fine as a #3C back then with his 3,5M$ but paying him 5M$ means he's basically your #2C and we know what happened last year and the year we lost to Vegas.

From recent memory, both Vrana and McCarron came back in the same season. They missed 1-2 months and entered the program with a similar timing to Girard, pre-new year.
Spencer Knight officially came back in about 5 months. But he’s battling OCD. Completely different issue.
Carey price missed a month. He was in the program from oct 7-nov 5ish. He hasn’t played because his body physically can’t.
So it’s actually the opposite. Players who enter the program, typically return the same season, especially if it’s early in the season.
Edit: and Bobby Ryan entered the program in November and was back in February.
Ultimately, all of this is moot. Each case is individual and Girard will need the time he needs.
I just think it’s pre-mature to suggest he’s done for the year when similar cases have all had shorter timelines.

Compher and Newhook are each shooting around 20%, that is not sustainable for either of those players.
They are both getting larger roles with their new teams than they would here, and shots are going in at unsustainable pace, while both will likely be more productive there then here due to the increased opportunities, they are both going to be coming down to earth soon.
