Occam's razor.
If Torts didn't want Frost on the team, he'd have been dealt over the summer, not given a bridge deal.
If Torts was unhappy with Frost, he'd say so. Instead he says he has to get him into the lineup.

Seeler did not look good on the right side, Belpedio is a RHD.

If they are sending a message to Attard, it suggests he's not working on his defense, which is what is keeping him out of the NHL - he has solid offensive skills, but defensive fundamentals have been the issue from the get go. After TDA, they may be taking that more seriously.

I don't think you understand Occam's Razor.

I'll always gladly focus my anger towards the front office and Ian Laperriere.

You don't have to encourage me on that one.
Any Flyers fan worth a damn can focus anger on the front office and Lapperriere and Torts and the assistants and the players and the media and the fans and everything else even loosely associated with this team.

That's simply not true. We saw it last year, it was the same in CBJ, Torts benched almost everyone at some point, some even multiple times, and they got another shot. Look at TDA, for example.

And if Torts is unhappy with a player he says so. Certainly did with Hayes, etc.

Nor does it have anything to do with "skill," Brink is second in 5x5 TOI, and he's an undersized "skill" player. Cates, his supposed favorite, is 9th in 5x5 TOI.

Torts isn't AV, once you got into AV's doghouse, you never got out.

It's a mystery right now, but the knee jerk reactions simply don't make sense.
Maybe so, dead, but you have to admit that 4 games and counting -- 5 is all but confirmed -- of healthy scratching after 2 games of mediocre play for someone who took a big step forward last season is pretty head-scratching. Knee-jerk reactions were after 1-2 games; this is no longer about sending a message to play better.

The only player being dicked around worse than Frost is Sandstrom. Let the guy play in the AHL for god's sake - he's 26! If he gets claimed, so be it. An extra roster spot/contract slot is more valuable at this point.
Oh they are going to throw him in there after not playing for 6 weeks and the idiots will wonder why he gets rocked.
I loathe this organization

They are trying to completely ruin the young man. It’s sickening

It's definitely head-scratching, which is why I'm patient, all the knee jerk reactions don't make sense - this is not TDA at the end of last season, driving Torts crazy with his repeated mistakes. And I don't buy "Torts hates him." w

"Something's happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear . . . "

Sometimes coaches fail to see the obvious because they're caught up in the comraderie of the team. Cates kills offense and d-lo is not an everyday player.

At this point I wouldn't be upset if Andrae got first pair minutes down in Lehigh. He seems to be having a little trouble adjusting. I really like him as a player but he needs to play.

Weird you didn't flaunt HDCF/60 last year when JVR led the team.

Oh, and when Cates 20th on the team behind Allison, MacEwen, Brown, Lycksell, Sedlak, etc..

Oh, and Marc Staal is 2nd on the team behind Cates in HDCF/60. Does that mean he is an offensive dman now?

32 Thoughts:

- Marek on Frost being scratched for 5+ games: "This is more than uncomfortable at this point"

- Friedman does think teams have started kicking around on Frost, but as of Thursday afternoon he did not get the sense there was anything enticing for the Flyers

- "We can all see where this is going and I think everybody gets that"

God I hope he turns into Sharp 2.0 after these losers trade him. I REALLY do.

Can't help but note the irony of Briere, an undersized forward who was given up on at the same age, in counsel with senior advisor Patrick Sharp, a forward who was given up on at the same age, giving up on Frost
I don't think they gave up on him or dislike him.

Torts is just cucking them and they're too much of spineless cowards to go against the face of the franchise.

I'm old enough to remember when we were told that TDA was elite offensively in the same category as Makar.

Hmm...

curious who gets the heat once Frost is off the team, because it’s just a matter of time at this point.

I’d have said Farabee, but maybe things will switch focus on to York?

Which is quite hilarious really.

GM extends player hoping to keep him around, and obviously Torts wanted nothing to do with him on the team moving forward.

Torts will get his wish.

I remember all those times the beats said Danny will have no problem standing up to John. Riggghhttt

We need to understand what that's telling us. That's telling us he's on the ice for many high danger shots, but that does not mean he's involved in those shots.

Evolving-Hockey doesn't have their RAPM/GAR/xGAR models up yet that detail some of this; however, Hockey-Viz does. This is the isolated impacts thru the first 7 games. Again, he's a net negative for offense. That doesn't mean it won't continue but that's what has been happening so far.

His most common linemates have been Brink (+3.6 5v5 O), Farabee (+1.7 5v5 O), and TK (+4.8 5v5 O). It's clear that he is being driven by his linemates in terms of HDCF....

What is nice to see is that his offensive sG value is significantly better than last year...Again, it's only 7 games in so let's see what happens, but there is progress.

I don't think the models will tell us, but does his defensive prowess free up his linemates (and the D-men) to be more aggressive with him at center?
