Let's assume they wanted forward depth in the case Couturier and/or Atkinson had setbacks. They are looking fine so far, so that should open up the ability to trade one or more forwards by mid-season, right?

Going into the season, Couts, Atkinson, Brink, Foerster were all unknowns.
Desnoyers (21), Lycksell (24), Allison (26), Laczynski (26) were unproven.
Tippett (24), Frost (24) and Cates (24) had less than a full season as top 9 starters.

So it's understandable Briere may have been reluctant to pull the trigger until he had more information. They may not have expected to win this season, but I doubt they wanted to field a putrid team either.

Konecny and Tippett play much better as RWers. Stop dicking around
Konecny better be careful. if he does well on LW Torts is gonna try him on defense next cuz why ever use your players for their strengths. thats too easy.
To me, it’s not so much about being on the LW (which yeah that sucks) it’s more about playing with Cates/Laughton as your center.

He’s our best offensive player. They should be trying maximize his output by playing him with other offensively talented skaters.

Remember, my friend. They're in this for the long haul. It's about maximizing the trade value of the assets you do haHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
