I'll believe that Atkinson is a top six player when I see it. We saw how much Hayes declined when he missed a season due to injuries. How much a 34 year old Atkinson has left remains to be seen after having shoulder surgery and now a LBI. Supposedly all spots in a lineup need to be earned. If so, Atkinson has to show that he has more to offer than Brink or Foerster.

We're rebuilding. Contract considerations matter.

You can't move Atkinson if he doesn't score 20+ goals, so you need to showcase him and give him a chance to shine. if he can bounce back, they may be able to move him and open a spot next year.

And things will be fluid this year, they're going to have their best LHV team in a long time, providing an opportunity for prospects to shine. If Atkinson is cooked, at some point he'll be buried and the kids will play ahead of him.

Whoever loses the Foerster/Brink contest will play RW on LHV's first line and be the first call up if a top nine spot opens up. Your 13th/14th forwards will be guys like Laczynski and Allison, who at 26 are no longer "prospects."

Too early, except the 4th line.

Frost has lined up with both Farabee and Tippett at LW, though I think they'll keep him with Tippett.

So
Farabee (23) - Couts (31)
Tippett (24) - Frost (24)
Atkinson (34), TK (26) fill out the top 6, but which line?

Laughton (30) - Cates (24) with either Foerster (21) or Brink (22)
Deslauriers (31) - Poehling (24) - Hathaway (32)

That leaves Alison (26), Laczynski (26), Lycksell (24) on the outside looking in.

D-pairs? Who knows?
York (22) LHD, Sanheim (27) RHD,
Risto (29) RHD, Walker (29) RHD
Seeler (30) LHD, Zamula (23) LHD
Staal (34) LHD, Attard (24) RHD

The 4th line being set already (with veterans) for a rebuilding team should be a red flag based on everything you've said should happen.

There is no world where having your fourth line already set is a defendable decision with where this organization supposedly is.

None.

That's without getting into many of the other ass backwards processes that have existed for years that we're still seeing but hey, it's different this time because they said it is.

Why don't you just wait if this is one of those decisions that do matter or one of those that do not matter? :dunce:

It kills me that this team can't just use a lineup like this, mix and match however:

Brink - Couturier - Konecny
Farabee - Frost - Tippett
Atkinson - Cates - Foerster
Lycksell - Poehling - Allison
Laczynski
Sanheim - Zamula
Seeler - York
Andrae - Ristolainen
Walker
Don't sign Hathaway, don't sign Staal, trade Laughton for the rumored package, 3 rookies up front/2 on the backend (all with pro experience) instead of maybe 1 f***ing spot up for grabs. Konecny/Hart can get shopped during or after the season. I don't see this team dangling in the wind destructively. If they're not good, it's for the right reasons. And not good =/= incompetent tank job. I'd watch this shit though because this is an actual rebuild roster with individual growth potential.

Anything is more interesting than watching veterans dessicate.

Has Brink ever played LW. Rather have in LHV than struggling on his off side in the NHL.
Lycksell is meh, Desnoyers is a better bet for 4LW but needs to physically mature.
I"m playing Walker b/c we're rebuilding - and I want more assets at the TDL.

I suspect you'll see some of what you want by the TDL.

Actual lineup:

Atkinson - Couts - TK
Farabee - Frost - Tippett
Laughton - Cates - Foerster/Brink
Deslauriers - Poehling - Hathaway

Zamula - Sanheim
York - Risto
Seeler - Walker
Staal

Bold should be moved by the TDL, Atkinson, Laughton, Deslauriers hopefully next summer
If Poehling keeps playing like this in the regular season, extend him.

GH will not be moved. Neither will Laughton. Funny you still have staal being the 7th dman.

If all those players are still here a yera from now what will your narrative be?

No one is taking on ND. He stinks. Offers nothing to any team who wants to win. A bottom feeder will also not take him unless you make it worth their while. He is here for the 4 year duration. Bet my left nut on that.

I don't even know where to start with projecting lines for opening night.

I doubt they can fit Foerster AND Brink into the lineup.

i dont think its a bad thing for them both to spend another year in lehigh and be leaders and take everything theyve learned in camp back with them and try to win the Calder. Theyd be playing with Tuomaala and Gendron, Avon and Desnoyers are the two centers, Andrae probably starts there too maybe Ersson, but Samson and Grans will be there. The last time we had the phantoms stacked with our top prospects like this was when Richards Carter and Sharp won the Calder Cup together

They should be up with the team - both should be here.
