Excuse me if this has already been discussed, but is JOB still property of the Flyers and does he factor in in any way at this point or is he just out the door?

They are not signing him and will receive the last pick of the 2024 2nd round as compensation.

The FO has indicated that they’re not signing him and are taking the 19th pick in the 2nd round as a comp pick in ‘24 draft. Technically he’s a Flyer draftee until after the draft but it’s over.

The Flyers 2023-24 defense by cap hit. Way too much money for a bottom 10 team.

Provorov - 6.75
Sanheim - 6.25
Ellis - 6.25
Ristolainen - 5.1
DeAngelo - 5
York -
Attard -
Zamula - 0.775
Beyond comical, sadly
13 million for 2 2nd pairing guys
10.1 million for a 6/7 guy and a pp specialist who did nothing to improve the league’s worst powerplay

I haven't done the math, but I think technically this is better cap-wise than 2013/2014. That's an easy bar to crawl over though.

Looking at the first round, do you guys see teams in the second half of the draft that would trade their 1st for Laughton? Maybe with a 2nd if it's later in the round.

Calgary at 16?
Jets at 18?
Rags at 23?
Leafs at 28?

They changed GM’s obviously but Friedman said in season on a Leafs based podcast that Toronto was & would be interested in Laughton if available. They were trying to acquire him a few years ago at the deadline when he was pending UFA before the Flyers pulled him off the market.

The Flyers and not reaping asset value when its at its peak. Name a better duo.

Treliving could call for Laughton. It wouldn't shock me.

What would shock me is Laughton getting traded.

Yeah, Homer spent almost 42% of the $64.3m cap ceiling on his top 6 defense. But the team did finish the season ranked 13th, whereas the 23-24 Flyers will be lucky to sniff 23rd.

If the 23-24 cap is $83.5m, that's 1.3 times bigger than in 13-14

Kimmo - 6 (7.8 under a $83.5m cap)
Streit - 5.25 (6.825)
Coburn - 4.5 (5.85)
Meszaros - 4 (5.2)
Schenn - 3.6 (4.68)
Grossmann - 3.5 (4.55)

Award winner, by the way.

They have 3 players that dumb teams would pay out the wazoo for: Laughton, Hart, and Provorov.

They have 2 players that EVERY team should pay out the wazoo for: Konecny and Sanhiem.

So let's get to it. The combined return for those guys would be insane.

Kimmo and I would have already traded these bums

Nobody is going to pay for Sanheim until he rebounds given that contract.

Laughton and Provorov are the obvious trades (along with Hayes to CBJ).

TK and Hart are more complex, depends on what they're offered. I think they'd want both a high pick and a NHL ready prospect, they're not looking to tank for the next JVR or Patrick, been there, done that! They want to get younger and more talented.

Interesting tiers.

This post is for subscribers on the The Eric Lindros and The Andrew MacDonald tiers only

why would a team pay out the wazoo for Sanheim? Define what paying out the wazoo for him entails. Move him in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself. The fact he wanted to re-sign here speaks volumes.

it isnt complex at all to move TK and/or Hart.

This want to get younger nonsense is so funny. Want to get younger yet don't want to trade the players they need to move to accomplish that mission.

Want to get younger yet I bet Zamula and Attard are not both in the top 6 when the season starts. They will sign a cagey vet fwd instead of taking their lumps with a young guy.

They already have Seeler on a two way deal.
They might sign a veteran RHD if they trade Provorov and dump TDA, so York isn't stuck with a rookie on his right side as he learns the ropes as 1LW.
