Really bad teams can finish 10th in a conference. Especially if they can clock 20 OT losses. If that number sounds crazy high, consider that 40 of Tortorella's last ~200 games were OT losses, so it's only upping that pace by 5%. 34-28-20? That's 88 points with under 35 wins!

Again, it's a worst-case-scenario fear. But it's also why trading Hart is so imperative.
With all due respect Mr. President, no team has ever finished a season with 20 OT losses in the history of the league.

Works well for the 3 year express rebuild timeline we're being sold on!

Franchise defining? Chicago made three 1st round picks last year, starting at #7, along with two 2nd rounders. Well, they have two 1sts this year, including a borderline generational prospect, and four 2nd rounders. Guess which one is the franchise defining draft. They also have two 1sts and two 2nds the next 2 years.

The Flyers are a mile away from a contending roster. Their NHL talent is thin; their prospect pool is thin. Even if they made 3 1st round picks this year (with no 2nds), it sure as shit isn't franchise defining, though they'd like to think of it as such. Buffalo made three 1st round picks last year, after two the previous season (including #1), and multiple stars already on their roster. Columbus made three 1st round picks two years ago (and a couple bleh ones at that). That's also sort of the issue: you need to select the right players.
You could argue that it’ll be franchise defining in the sense that it’ll show us if Briere has any shred of understanding of what matters or if the “rebuild” is over before it’s started.

4 teams, including the 2015 Flyers, have finished with 18. as mentioned, Torts is rolling at nearly 20% OT losses over his last 3 seasons. it ain't shit to get to 25% with a slightly "better" team.

Well you see… he was all about Bellows until he was sent down and then he said that Torts had seen enough and doesn’t want to see him again and then a week later when he was called back up he was all about him again.
I don’t know where he finds the energy.

Man. Watching my nuggets win this year has been f***ing incredible. This is such an amazing feeling and I want this so god damn bad for the flyers. Took almost 3 decades for me to see one of my teams to win and I really hope it doesn’t take another 3 for the flyers.
I've only gotten to see my eagles and phillies win, but not the 76ers or flyers :(

At least you got two wins haha. This was the first for my sports teams. Awesome feeling for sure. If the flyers ever do it, I know it will be even better. I will def fly out to see them win. Hopefully we get it one day

What happened with that FLA goalie prospect Knight?
Got signed to a 3yr/$13.5M contract as a RFA and promptly wet the bed.
Last two seasons .908, .901 Sv%.
He's only 22, so plenty of time to turn it around, but so far a big disappointment.

The correct answer is he went into the NHLPA player assistance program.

Because Spencer Knight is in the players’ assistance program he can’t attend a sporting event with his friends?

Firstly, it was reported he was not in the program for substance reasons.

Secondly, it’s not even a picture of anyone holding beer.

I guess he’s supposed to stay locked indoors & quarantined.

Yikes... that's bad optics

As someone who experienced mental health struggles for the first time this past year...

I get the questionable optics of it...but its plausible that his mental health is currently making it impossible to play in the NHL at the moment. In that case, stress-free time with friends like this is good for his mental health.

I'm assuming this is to the tweet guy commenting right? I posted it to make it a bit more interesting of a detail because when people are in the assistance program, how often do we see said player in situations like this? Also, even if it isn't alcohol, it could of been drugs or gambling. Either way, it's a picture we don't see often given context.

I do agree with this. You need to find your center, get back the right and hopefully you surround yourself with friends that you feel can get you there.

Yes, it’s about the tweeter’s implication that Knight did something wrong by attending a public sporting event with his friends & participating in a group photograph.

So many hall monitors on social media.

Hanging out at fun events with your friends ::checks notes:: is *good* for mental health, according to my notes.

This isn't quite a gotcha people are pointing out

I don't think it is either. As stated before, I think it's interesting because generally the people under the assistance program just go completely dark until they come back to the league to play. This is one exception where we've seen them in the wild during said program.

People also get pissed at athletes for going out to bars and not being in the gym 24/7 because athletes solely exist for their own personal entertainment.
