Boston Bruins 2023-24 Roster and Salary Cap Discussion VII

I would like to see them trade for someone like Michael McCarron. He has more goals than the entire fourth line, can play center and handle the heavy weights.

I think he’s obviously having some good puck luck this year but I think he’d be cheap at the deadline and should make the bottom six harder to play against.
Here is the problem with Michael McCarren as told to me a few years ago from someone who knows him well

He’s a really nice guy - super person. He is not excited about being a fighter he wants to be a player

Doesn’t sound like a guy we want here

What a f***ing stupid post. No one is saying “we need to get a goon and to win fights”
Dude drive down here and let’s see who can bench more and hit a heavy bag harder

this is outrageous treatment of HF royalty

Drive up here, though, the -50 conditions may be a little too hard on you big dawg.

Who and when? When buddy made that post I can’t say I’ve seen a single soul asking for Ryan Reaves.

He went off on nothing.

Is saying “I’d like to see a big, mean stay at home d-man” = needing a goon?
people have been pining after the likes of Deslauriers for years. Some wanted to claim Zack MacEwen off waivers like a month ago. Nobody would give these guys a 2nd thought if they couldn't fight. Is that not the definition of wanting a goon?

I was responding to a post which was indeed, stupid.

It was posted after I said I’d like to see a big, mean, stay at home d-man. Is that a weird thing to want for this team? If you watch games, we have our goaltenders trying to clear the crease because the guys on this team, who are big, supposedly strong, refuse to do so. Is it insane that I suggested a guy like Dillon, Middleton etc?

The post made was a knee jerk “look at me” spout off trying to put guys who want physical hockey in their place, which came off f***ing dumb. I went back and read 4-5 pages before the post was made. Nothing. No one asking for that.

Have people asked for Deslauriers? I believe so, yeah, a while ago. I can’t say I’ve seen anyone crying for him lately. I don’t think there’s a “crowd” asking for him.

Do you think it’s outrageous for suggesting some physicality and size on the back end in a bottom pair role? The post I replied to seemed to imply everyone wants a 5 minute goon.

I don’t even go to Dunkin’ Donuts down the street if below 32

I am hurt you called me stupid and hope mods will overlook the personal attack- I enjoy the daily Jacob Middleton discussion to much

Big, tough, hard to play against teams win in the playoffs. Wanting a mean SOB defender doesn't mean we want some local beer league tough guy on the 4th line. Our
last real enforcer was Shawn Thornton and the guy played a regular shift on one of the best 4th lines in franchise history. Adam McQuaid played 16-18 minutes a night but could also mash people's faces.

I think wanting someone to protect the stars, kids, whatever is part of the game. Intimidation works! If it's too much for some of the figure skating fans on here, I wouldn't worry about it! f*** em'

Big tough teams also lose in the playoffs.

Lauko and Steen are showing they can be a problem for the defense on the forecheck but I wish they had the ability to chip in with some offense more than they have.

I see them as much more of a problem for our defense at the other end of the ice.

Lauko took a pass up the boards in his own zone last night and passes it directly back to a Tampa forward. Momentary color blindness I guess.

Whether they need toughness of not hopefully the kings of the regular season can do something this year in the play-offs.

When is the last time a team won it all with a 5-9 guy in the top 4? The jury is most definitely out on this defensive unit who can't seem to get it done when playing in a series. Hopefully the goalies will be superhuman

Maybe Rafalski ( 3 time SC winner ).

Yeah you could be right, 2008 was a long time ago. Seems like Colorado was pretty much the outlier the past decade plus with a "smaller" defense.

I think the Bruins know a size/strength upgrade for where Gryz normal slots in is something they need for the playoffs. They went and got Lindholm two years ago and Orlov last year; Monty also healthy scratched him a few times in the 1st round.

It’s not

I wish we just rode last years momentum and didn’t add the Washington pukes.

Thing is we are almost certain to have a better team next year.

Sam Girard, Colorado? Unless you think there’s that huge a difference between 5’9 and 5’10 I guess.
