If and when Swayman gets his big deal, they should explore something around Hertl/Ullmark in the offseason. For now, I think it's fine to keep the tandem together, let the #1 center by committee continue for the rest of the year, and then step into camp this September with something like this:

Zacha -- Hertl -- Pasta

Marchand -- Poitras -- DeBrusk

Frederic -- Coyle -- Geekie

Heinen -- Beecher -- XXXXX

ex: Lauko

Hanafin -- McAvoy

Lindholm -- Carlo

Lohrei -- XXXXX

Swayman
Bussi

Lauzon a gamer, tough as nails, and is hard to play against. He currently leads the league in hits and is always there for his teammates. If he becomes available every and all playoff teams and those teams in the hunt will have Barry Trotz on speed dial.

Lauzon's a third pair defenseman on a bad team with weak numbers.

Not sure all the GM's will be burning up the phone lines to get a crack at him.

My favorite Jeremy “playoffs” Lauzon moment was when he turned the puck over in overtime of game 2 and the Islanders tied the series.

It was poor situational awareness from him to try and zip that pass along the blueline and not see the other Bruins player but it was also a bit of a lucky bounce for the Islanders as the puck went straight off the skate and right to Cizikas' stick for the breakaway.

Charlie McAvoy in game 7 had one of the worst games I have ever seen someone play ,he looked like a deer in the headlights for almost the entire game,it not really fair to judge a player on a bad play or even a bad game ,but if your willing to go there.

How about his overall play in general other than hits?

I haven’t really seen him play much since he left Boston so couldn’t really comment, yeah he made some mistakes as a Bruin ,but he was pretty young and who doesn’t especially Bruins defenceman in the playoffs lately.Have been shocked at some of the boneheaded plays they have made .

Surely Mac does enough most nights to offset a bad game or two? Not sure you can say the same for Lauzon. Number 1 thing you want from bottom D guys is smart plays because they provide little else offensively.

Wouldn't mind Lauzon as a 7th guy to rotate in though.

I can’t really comment much on Lauzon haven’t really followed him since he left Boston ,but I’m not sure Charlie can offset that game 7 for me ,it’s going to take a lot ,I like Charlie don’t get me wrong but I don’t put him in the elite D category.

Just curious who do you put in that category in todays game? Carlo?

At times maybe ,probably had Lindholm up until the playoffs last year ,and he still hasn’t returned to form.Look I think Charlie is very good just not great is all I’m saying, kind of think a great player should step up for a game 7,although I guess we can’t say Bruins have really done that for a game 7 in awhile now,so maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on Charlie.Lol

Would you take Lauzon over McAvoy?

No , I said Charlie is a very good player, just because I don’t think he is great doesn’t mean I want to move him. I don’t believe Charlie has been a candidate for the Norris has he so I’m not the only one that thinks this way.

Last year he was 18th in Norris voting because he missed 15 games. Year before he was 4th, year before that 5th. And that’s in a world where the Norris trophy goes to the best offensive defenseman now.

He’s for sure still a top 3 D. He just logged 29 minutes yesterday and only 3 teams have allowed fewer goals than the Bruins. He just isn’t playing like a #1 like he did last year. Last year in the regular season he was borderline perfect imo, this year there are mistakes and bad penalties but he’s still a horse (and it seems like the offense is ticking in the right direction). He just set a really high bar last year that he probably won’t come close to touching again, that was probably his peak
I feel more like he’s played through a slump which in my mind is 50/50 injury driven. Certainly still hoping to see him return to 1B for the rest of this season at some point. Better late than early in reality.

So that would make him not a great defenceman, because he definitely isn’t anywhere near being the best defensive defenceman not sure I would even say that for being on the Bruins, think Carlo is probably somewhat more reliable at that.. But whatever not going to argue all day with you let’s just agree to disagree .

PIck up @ 9:15,

Yes, Haggerty is in love with the sound of his own voice, but he knows the game. More, he features guests who *really* know the game, like MIck Colageo, Mark Divver, and Steve Conroy,

Yes I’ll agree to disagree with someone who doesn’t think McAvoy is a top tier defenseman in the league unlike pretty much anyone else who follows hockey.

Heading into next years cap the Bruins are going to be in great shape and that's where I want to see money spent wisely and transactions made for an elite forward and a change on the defensive side of the puck where Sweeney brings in some talented blueliners who are also hard to play against, in a manner where players aren't very eager to go to the front of the net or in the corners because a Chara/McQuaid/Miller or Boychuk type are out there.

This may take trading some players away, some hard decisions ahead, but this off season looks like a real possibility of being able to address two major weaknesses on this team imo.
I am with you that is why I have been against going out trying to trade for a big name center, do that work in the offseason. I also suggested someone like Varana, who has a low cap and is expiring, maybe worth a shot for this season.

I said he was very good just not great ,I don’t throw great around Nilly Willy to just anyone. I get it you think he is that’s fine.Sorry I hit a nerve.

You are completely entitled to your opinion, but you are also the only one getting defensive here.

This conversation is happening because you used a criticism of Lauzon as a jumping off point to criticize McAvoy.

Again this is fine, but if you want to make an argument you should defend it. It’s off base to accuse someone of getting upset just because they countered the argument you created.

Weird criteria for what makes someone great. Plenty of nobodies have had amazing game 7s and stepped up, don't think that makes them a great player, nor should one game 7 make you ignore all the great play of Mac...but to each their own.

Then to a few posts later say being in the top 5 for Norris voting doesn't make him "great", really don't understand....
