So everyone is assuming JJ is an every night player when we're healthy? I basically have the kid penciled in as the RH #6D.

Why would he have signed here otherwise?
Because he was an undrafted 25 year old, he probably didn’t get any better promises elsewhere. He’ll get an opportunity at some point though. When have they ever given any D an NHL job straight away in pro that wasn’t drafted 4th overall? Also peep the number he’s given, if he’s really going with #70 in main camp he’s not making opening night. Getting a real number off the bat is telling, LOC and Kerf did for example.

i also feel like the difference between JJ signing this year and not last year is he was given a regular job this time.

With how good he was in the AHL, and them not even attempting to sign another right shot.. maybe it's just me, but the D core looks about right when you pencil him in there.

You're probably right, but.. They really needed another right shot.

Uh.. that I disagree with. He was chasing the money, as he should of. You're aware of what happened to him right?

Anybody get a chance to watch Gulyayev yet. He picked up an assist today and has 2 in 5 games now, already an improvement on his stint in the KHL last year. Seems to be getting lots of minutes and having a positive impact as well.
He hasn't been real noticeable good or bad... which is honestly a good thing. His assist today was a simple zone keep that lead to a very soft goal by the goalie. It wasn't a flash play or anything. His first assist was a nicer keep that lead to a small cycle where he got passed the puck at the top of the zone and fed a nice one timer to the soft side. He had a really nice pass breakup a couple games ago where he stopped a possible high danger chance. He's playing solid enough hockey that he's solidified a bottom pairing role so far. Plays a little more when they need to push.

How many minutes is he getting? Would suck if because he’s only 18 he stays buried on the bottom pair all season long.

At first glance this doesn't sound so bad, and you might think they've changed how they announce injuries by saying his return is in the Fall instead of saying Day-To-Day for months.

But the problem is his timeline is actually Fall-to-Winter-to-Spring-to-Summer-to-Fall again.

Ivan Zhigalov dropped the game in goal for the Storm after making 19 saves on 23 shots during the matchup. Jakub Krbecek picked up the victory in goal for the Musketeers in a 20-save-on-23-shots effort.

I see why they did it but I'm kinda sad the KHL went with Roman characters on their nameplates and not Cyrillic. That was way more fun (and while I know very little Russian, I can read Cyrillic...slowly).
