So regarding the 1st round pick the Avs have, who do you guys want to select with it?

Some names that would be cool to select with it if they're avaliable:

Quentin Musty - LW
Samuel Honzek - C
Nate Danielson - C
Lukas Dragicevic - RD
Tanner Molendyk - LD
Gavin Brindle - C/LW
Riley Heidt - C
Jayden Perron - LW/C/RW
Koehn Ziemmer/Ethan Gauthier
Gracyn Sawchyn - C
Luca Cagnoni - D
Kalan Lind - C/LW
Felix Nilsson - C
Beau Akey - RD
1. Danielson, C - Not even close to 2nd or 3rd
2. Dragicevic, RD - Defensive zone is teachable, but his skating and offensive prowess are not (better version of Barron)
3. Musty/Honzek, W - Both are wingers and probably the most talented on that list after Nate

KHL guys traditionally have been allowed over once the season ends. Geopolitically that could always change and they could get strict on it and hold May 1 since there is no transfer agreement.

Technically there is no way to for a NHL team to buyout a KHL deal, but is seems to happen. No real chance the Avs would do that for a month.
If Torpedo's playoff run ends in March like it was this year I wouldn't be surprised if they agree to the contract's mutual termination, they don't look like an organization that will be strict about that. Since Kovalenko doesn't need a visa he also should be able to arrive rather quickly after that.

Thank you for sharing these details.

Looking for info on players who made their NHL debut last season. Specifically what type of player they are and what their future NHL outlook is. Thanks!

Callahan Burke
Jean-Luc Foudy

Burke... unlikely to make the NHL. If he does, 4th line winger who is a PK guy. No real upside.

Foudy... middle 6 transition winger who is more suited to a 3rd line role. Odds are offense is more around the 30 point level than the 50 point, so more of a 3rd line guy.

Malinski?

Malinski?
Too old, 25 later this month.
Yep, he's already 24, so he's "not a prospect" under the rules we've been using. I'd honestly like to add him because I'm curious to see where he'd land, but I think it's important to be consistent year to year, otherwise it opens the door for all kinds of arguments about who should or should not be in the pool.

So I thought some of those prospects only got ATO’s who didn’t get re-signed as a college UFS?

There were a couple guys that only received AHL contracts, but Jason Polin and Ondrej Pavel both got ELCs, so I counted them. Ryan Sandelin was one of the guys who got an AHL deal, I think, and Underwood was another maybe? I can't remember the names, but I didn't count them because they weren't on NHL deals.

Shmakov still counts? I mean, if he counts because the Avs still has his NHL rights, then Ranta should count too, no?

edit: Im blind, forgive me. just saw his name on the list. Avs have one more guy on such situation though, no?

Yeah, Shmakers is still technically on the Avs reserve list and only 23 (for three more weeks), so he's on the list. Next summer he will have aged out. Daniil Zhuravlyov would count because he is 23 still until next April, but as far as I can tell the Avs terminated his ELC and gave up his rights, so since he isn't on the reserve list he doesn't count as a prospect anymore.
