Didn’t realize Ben Meyers was putting up such good numbers in the AHL.

Maybe he just needed more time to develop. Hopefully he shows better next season.
Definitely some of these guys need the heavy minutes. I wonder how Newy would have done with heavy important minutes this year at a lower level. Some guys really benefit from that. Maybe if we hadn't signed the wrong scrubs (Sedlak, Blidh) and had so many injuries, that would have happened.

Yea, despite people being down on him, Meyers did show some glimpses of why we were excited about him last year. The Pro game is quite different than the College game, he may have just needed a year to get his legs under him.

It's easy to be spoiled by Cale Makar flying into Denver one day and scoring in the first period of his first game- in the F'in playoffs no less!

A realistic and necessary development path for players is one the organization would do well to embrace.

You could have ended your sentence after "Makar"...the rest of it is unneeded. After you've made the sale, stop selling.

I think the problem is similar for a lot of young players that come to the Avs. Older players too for that matter.

You have to skate at such a frantic pace in Bednar's system, and then when you get the puck for a scoring chance, you have to find a way to calm yourself under pressure so you can make a good accurate shot, or a nice pass through sticks and legs. Hard to find the right balance, without sacrificing something.

I think this has been a problem for guys like Meyers, Newhook, and even Jost. You start to lose your confidence on top of all that, and it becomes hard to dig your way out. I liked what I saw from Meyers in his stint last year, but he looked like he was overthinking everything this year. Newy too.

Makar is silkier as a skater and more explosive. In terms of raw speed, Byram might have him beat. Both guys can cover a lot ground in a hurry.

The separator for Makar comes in his hockey IQ, hands, and shot.
I’m actually not sure. I think you’re a great poster but I think Byram has a higher IQ offensively and that’s why he can create with less skill and precision than Makar has. Makar is just deadly with his accuracy and ability to convert on the opportunities he sees. Obviously I could be wrong lol just how I see it. Love Bryam’s feel for the game regardless.

No I've said a few times I don't think Bo skates as fast as Cale. Both with burst and top speed. Nobody does.

But there definitely is a narrative out there that his skating is overrated. It's been said since he was drafted. I disagree strongly for the reasons I mentioned.
Yep seen a few people mention Bo’s skating and skill as a limit to his ceiling. Than turn around and claim anyone who disagrees is a homer. Should just get better at that ignoring them but I just dislike when it’s stated like a fact and they ridicule anyone who dares to question their opinions.

The most negative people calling others homers is an age old tactic here. It's just a way to justify their negativity that usually ends up being proven wrong.

I feel the same. I'm fine with people being negative or saying the players and team sucks, but after about the 100th post saying the same thing, they become narratives (IMO false narratives), just due to the sheer repetition of people saying them, that's when it starts to be annoying and needs to be balanced out with a different pov, and if available facts to correct the record.

As you allude to it's usually started with people stating their opinions as objective facts.

And Behrens 5'10".

I'm sure you've had nightmares like that.
You do realize that my views have evolved slightly over the decade and half we've been posting here. *LOL* I'm not the size queen I was in the 90s and early 00s.

Makar is listed at 5'11", so put him on your Hobbit list 😐
That's 5' 11&3/4", sir.

NCAAUFA goalie David Fessenden from New Hampshire remains unsigned.

He's from Parker, but who knows if either he or the Avalanche have any interest.
