Excellent. we have lots of those. If SJ do not win a lottery, say pick 4th... would it make any sense to trade the 1st for 4/5 solid assets?

say 2x mid 1sts + 2x young NHL Ds on entry level contracts + more?
No. We aren’t trading quality for quantity. You can take your 20th overall, 25th overall, Justin Barron offer elsewhere.

Per the podcast record by SJHN, they estimated a 4th + 5th + contract coming back
I've been saying this all season--no matter how well Granlund is doing, I just have such a hard time seeing another team trading for him. The contract going through next year (and not wanting to retain on anyone beyond this season) combined with his past struggles immediately after being traded mid-season? Hard to see anything making sense--and there's just no point in the Sharks trading him for such a paltry return.

Now, if he's playing like this next year, with his contract expiring? Then I like to think a better return would be realistic. So might as well wait and see. Plus I think he's a good mentor for Eklund right now.

Also if you move Hertl in the offseason and/or Couture is on LTIR, Granlund could be a top-6 center again next season

I’m genuinely curious if and what the market is for Granlund. His line, again, seemed to have the bulk of the teams offense.
I’m really hoping he’s the one we use our last retention spot on. It hamstrings us a bit next year but Sturm, Rutta and Blackwood are the only other rentals next year. If we retain 50%, could we get back a late 1st (maybe take back a bad contract)?

Granlund has been legit good outside of his first few games.
Given the Rangers are rumored to be interested and their scout was at the game witnessing Duclair's 2 goal game, can we ask for Gabriel Perreault straight up? If not, is #1 in 2024 or 2025 too much to ask for? If it's too much, can we at least get Will Cuylle and a 2nd rounder?
I mean we can ask. Doesn’t mean we will ever get an answer because NYR will be too busy blocking our number. Max Duclair will get is a 2nd and that’s if there’s some huge bidding war and someone gets desperate.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask what the price for a Kakkonen + Duclair package to NJ would be? I know we had heated arguments on Meier but Calgary fans might take the cake with the insane trade takes for Markstrom that made our Timo talks look like nothing lmao

Guarantee the conditional 2nd into a first and add a 4th next year.

So I was watching some college hockey stuff and first thing I see is Ty Emberson, pretty cool.

Then Craig Smith is there. Cool, NHL player, I say. Then Luke Kunin shows up! And then finally..........Pavelski!

They say something like "constantly researching new things and new methods" and they cut to a clip of Pavelski effusively talking to the coach while on his phone clearly showing Pavs showing new stuff he found and innovating and well......

...you can clearly tell where Luke Kunin got his newfound leadership abilities from! (i.e. Pavs)

[or maybe I just miss Pavs lol]

Dudes on Hockey had a nice conversation about the Sharks in their recent podcast.
They talked about a subject that really hit me. The Characters.
We had Thornton and Burns in their prime that besides the success and being great players, they were characters that we as fans loved to follow.
You could argue Hertl is a close one, but the spark is gone without winning.
It's quite unfair to compare Thornton and Burns to the majority of the players in the league since they really were kind of a unicorns. I miss those times.
Cheers to the next generation, hopefully we'll get the spark again.

Vlasic is srsly the only one I can see with any sort of angle... I really think he could draw really great heat in his promos if he wanted to

He'd obviously be the natural leader for the team's DGAF heel turn

So Barabanov was training on the 4th line, which is fine. I think he'd be a better scratch, but sure whatever.

.. However having Hoffman be that person to fill that second line winger spot is absurd. He is meant to have been a shooter, but doesn't shoot the puck and when he does, it isn't from a dangerous spot or an effective shot that creates a rebound.

Preempting the "well who else" question - how about rewarding Zadina for his play as of late?

I really hope Barabanov is a permanent healthy scratch if (when) we don’t get anything for him at the deadline. Absolutely zero reason to give him minutes over any other forward in the organization.

Zadina has had 1 good game of the 54 games the sharks have played. Don't be fooled by it, he won't become anything more then garbage.

What would you all think if we traded for Seth Jones? Let’s say something like NJD 2nd for Seth Jones + CHI 3rd?

Basically gives us a RHD that can pair with our younger guys and help shelter them without costing much at all. Would CHI do this? Probably not but maybe. Jones would probably say no too since he has an NTC but trying to think outside the box with our cap space.

Chicago can't afford to pay us to take Seth Jones. I'd want six 1sts, or three 1sts plus Bedard. Jones is awful and on a gigantic contract - we'd just be buying an even more expensive Vlasic deal.

Jones would also nix the idea.
