Speculation: 2023-24-25 Sharks Roster Discussion

Fork over a conditional 2nd that gives us the best pick of the 2nds that you have and I'd be fine moving Ferraro to Arizona.
I wouldn’t be willing to tie up all three picks like that. You can just pick one. :)
Ferraro can be a good part to an effective PK. I don't think he'll cure PK woes your team may have but he's proven himself effective in that role in San Jose even in the bad years. If you're okay with a guy who kills PK's well enough and blocks shots and that's pretty much it then Ferraro will be a solid add for you.
That’s really all I want.
I'd prefer to trade him sooner rather than later too. Moving him makes sense for us as well since it's probably a good idea for the Sharks to bring up Muk or Thrun to have someone on the left side that knows how to move the puck well also.
I’d rather do it sooner too. The PK is a problem and so are our depth D. The 5,6, and 7 guys.

Everyone says why Kunin, but who else is actually better on the team then Kunin? With Couture out we only have Hertl for someone that can carry these kids and make there lives easier at the NHL.

Only other solution would be to play Hertl 30/40 minutes a game so all the good talent can play on his line.

It's not really tying them up. You can condition those picks as still available for the Coyotes to trade. All it is would be conditioning a second trade of those picks as being the next best or worst of them.

Kunin has been a massive detriment to every line he's been on. Put Gushchin with Labanc or literally any other RW. Gushchin-Granlund-Labanc wouldn't be a great defensive line but it would at least have some skill.

Would rather not have any of the youngsters on labancs line, he is such a lazy player that it could give the wrong teaching moments

I don't think Labanc's been much better than Kunin at all. Duclair is really the only one that is a step above and that could be a fun line. I do think Gushchin would benefit from a more physical guy but even Sturm hasn't been great this year either.

Agreed but I don't think the difference between Labanc and Kunin is all that great when it comes to applicable skill. Kunin doesn't have much of it at all and Labanc needs more time than he's going to get to use it. Practically speaking, nobody can be put with Granlund and Gushchin to really get the most out of them, imo. We'll have to wait for Barabanov or Couture or Duclair to come back to get someone with the skill to play off of Gushchin. Until then, I'd rather Kunin be there to at the very least stick up for Gushchin if anyone takes a run at him.

Hopefully Duclair comes back in time to replace Kunin. Guschin will also be on the power play, so hopefully he gets a chance to showcase himself a bit. A Guschin - Granlund - Duclair line would at least be skilled and fun to watch, potentially.

We keep sticking our prospects with Kunin. Granted we gotta work 2ith what we got, but man, that is rough

I see that Duclair is still out, so I'm going to hold out hope that this is just temporary until he's feeling better. It's a shame because he was finally showing real jump in his game the last couple before getting sick.

Also, a bit odd to see Emberson on a PP unit, but whatever--at least that means he should be in tomorrow. His advanced stats were looking really solid compared to the other defensemen on the team, around 50% in all categories with around even in terms of offensive/defensive zone starts. (On that note, Kyle Burroughs has actually been better than I thought; he's gotten a brutal number of D-zone starts and has at least managed fairly cromulent numbers, except goals against.)

I’ll say this, Kunin is often in the right place to receive passes. He’s having trouble completing them but he’s in the right places.
And he's in the wrong place for everything else, so considering that he does nothing with those actual passes, he's basically just a tank commander. Onward!

Sad but true. I can't believe someone with such a low hockey IQ is getting PK time--grit and hustle aren't enough for that! But it's not like Quinn has much choice.

It's all rational re: Ferraro, but I'll be shocked if he's moved. The word last spring was that people were calling about him and yet Grier's "price for Ferraro is very high"... This was reported on SJHN on March 8 2023, granted Friedman was the source.

So, it seems like Ferraro is in the plans.
I think Ferraro's value to Grier is beyond his on-ice contributions. Grier needs a guy in the room who is positive and tries hard. Even though he is young, Ferraro can be a great influence on the younger guys with his attitude and work ethic.

I'm sure Grier wouldn't say no to a trade, but it's gotta be of high value o twist his arm
