Laine is only 26?!? Jesus, it feels like he’s been in the league for 45 years.
I guess I’m really undervaluing Ferraro.![]()
We would be just as bad, he might pump up the scoring numbers for our rookies though. I also don't think anyone is saying go out and tank again? I don't want to spend future assets yet unless we are getting really young players. But I'm down for improving the roster through FA or trading spare parts for guys that help. I thought most people wanted to take a step forward while realizing we will for sure pick in the top 5 again.I'm confused, I thought many of you wanted us to be bad again next year. What would brinigng in Laine accomplish?
Having Laine on your roster doesn't seem to be much of a roadblock to being bad. But it would give the young guys a genuine NHL wing to play with and maybe they rehabilitate a bit of his value and flip him in 2026 for something to a contending team. Depends on the price.I'm confused, I thought many of you wanted us to be bad again next year. What would bringing in Laine accomplish?
With mental health and physical injury issues combined with a high price tag, I don't think anyone believes it will take a lot to acquire him. Bigger issue is whether he's willing to go to another bad franchise, as the Sharks are probably one of the franchises in his no-trade clause.Offering anything more than cap dumps and nothing prospects for Laine is a bad idea.
True but if he would be willing to come here for his fresh start, we should only be offering guys like Vlasic, Kunin, Zadina, Burroughs, Benning or other pro players with no trade value with prospects with no trade value like Kaut or Thompson or guys like that. No picks or anything legitimately valuable like Ferraro or Blackwood. With mental health and physical injury issues combined with a high price tag, I don't think anyone believes it will take a lot to acquire him. I think Laine's issues are more mental than physical, and because of that I think that in the right setting he can be a top player again. I wasn't joking when I said warm weather and sunshine would be great for him; my physical and mental health improved exponentially when I moved to a place where i got tons of vitamin D all year round .We just got rid of useless wingers Labanc and Hoffman why would we want to add another of the same caliber/tyle?
Laine has not been anywhere near the same caliber. Similar type of player, sure, but significantly better than either has been over the last few years (and better than Labanc has ever been). We just got rid of useless wingers Labanc and Hoffman why would we want to add another of the same caliber/tyle?
Unironically this, I hate Patrick Laine as a hockey player, he has no NHL caliber skills outside of an elite shot, he's Brandon Pirri with draft pedigreeI wouldn’t take Laine for free.
Laine wouldn't make our team any better, he's awful, I'd only take him on as a cap dump along with a sweetener, like Laine + 2nd for a 7th type of dealI'm confused, I thought many of you wanted us to be bad again next year. What would brinigng in Laine accomplish?
Still under contract until 6/30. Sharks have announced they won't re-sign.We just got rid of useless wingers Labanc and Hoffman why would we want to add another of the same caliber/tyle?
In his defense, he's gotten two of the worst cities in pro sports thus far in his career in Winnipeg and Columbus.Oh Laine my friend, why are you always asking for trades buddy. Your lofty standards for the perfect team and city must change or it will leave you alone in tis world.
He's a one timer specialist who is slow, doesn't use his size, has no defensive acumen, has below average puck handling skills, isn’t a playmaker, and hasn't scored 30 goals in 5 yearsWould it be fair to describe Laine as a middle six winger/ elite powerplay specialist?
