Man, I would think everyone here watching Bouchard getting bitched around in the playoffs (who is Better than Hronek, who also got tossed around) would completely stop this nonsense. These guys are specialist defensemen that realistically have no place on winning teams, or even fun teams, they just put up points. #3 defensemen IF that.

If the Sharks traded an asset like a 1st for someone like Hronek, and then signed him to a massive deal, that would undo a huge part of MG's smart business. I get the fiending for defenseman, I do, but it most importantly needs to be someone *good* and not just a name. They would be far better off getting two 3-4 FA guys spending no assets and waiting till a #1 becomes available when they have a better understanding of the team.
I think you’re misinterpreting the post. He meant he’d take a similar return for Mario as Detroit got for Hronek.

Oh Laine my friend, why are you always asking for trades buddy. Your lofty standards for the perfect team and city must change or it will leave you alone in tis world.

I'd take a flyer on Laine, but he's gotta come cheap. Not trading any of our 1sts or 2nds (2024 or 2025) for him, nor any prospects that people on these boards know by name (like Halttunen). Laine should essentially be free given his issues.

Someone mentioned Vlasic, but there's no reason for CBJ to take our cap dump. Honestly, we don't need to dump cap.

Laine for Winnipeg's 2025 4th + Rights to Kunin + Rights to Zadina, assuming this trade can be made now before the Sharks have to decide to make QO's to Kunin and Zadina. Like I said, it should be free. This is sort of a Nichushkin situation (i.e., when he was cut from Dallas and then signed with Colorado).

This is the sort of high talent reclamation projects Grier should be targeting, as long as they come cheap.

My mistake, you're right. That Hronek trade was absolutely awful IMO even at the time for the Canucks, but if the Sharks even got offered anything close to that for Mario that'd be unbelievable.

I’ve always been interested in Laine but I wouldn’t want Grier to give up anything to acquire him.

I feel like Anaheim, Carolina, Chicago, Nashville, NYI, Seattle, and Utah are the most logical landing spots for Laine at this point.

I'm confused, I thought many of you wanted us to be bad again next year. What would brinigng in Laine accomplish?
