Correct. We had too many picks so they wasted one to move up and pick someone they could have gotten much later or for free as a FA
They didn't move up, they moved a 2nd rd pick from 2024 to 2023, to snare a top ranked goalie.
You have to maintain goalie depth in an organization, just think back to the last decade when Mason melted down, and Elliott and Neuvirth couldn't stay healthy.

They essentially "lost" Fedotov, Hart is still an unknown until the report comes out, so its basically Ersson as organizational depth. Sandstrom is a marginal backup.

Now they have Koloslov (21), Zavragin (18), Bjarnason (18) in the pipeline.

He is quickly falling behind Smith, Leonard and Perrault even though he is a year older. His goal last night was a 5 on 3. Does anyone have any video of an actual skillful play (Ok a hard, accurate shot is a type of skill).

We could have had 2 of the three listed but chose to go with two projects, albeit one is political. Can anyone make me feel better about this because all I see is more of the status quo....

If it makes you feel better, Michkov is a better prospect than any of the above, and it isn't particularly close. Concerns about Gauthier are legit.

Unfortunately, no I can't. I've been watching him, and I'm not thrilled. There's a few passing plays that he's making on the PP that might suggest he's trying to develop, but on at ES, it's no where to be found. All he does is shoot. I haven't watched this game, and I will later this weekend, and I'll probably report back. I watched Denver vs BC and was more impressed with Rizzo than Gauthier to be completely honest .... However, it was just one game.

What we don't know unfortunately is whether it's Gauthier or the HC.
That is, does he shoot b/c it's all he know show to do or b/c the HC has told him to do so.

Just think back to the last decade when Mason melted down
Revisionist bullshit history. Mason didn't melt down. Berube played him a about a week after he had his meniscus surgery and then Haktard ran him into the ground and injured him. There eat nothing wrong with Steve Mason. Quit lying that there was and tell the truth that it was two coaches who mishandled him by playing him too soon after meniscus surgery and the other coach ran him into the ground because he wouldn't play the backup at all.

Mason started 60, 48, 53, 54 games in his four years with the Flyers. Berube rode him to the playoffs, then he couldn't carry them the next year. Hakstol played him about what you'd expect with a #1 goalie, Neuvirth was a solid back in 2015-16, then both goalies fell off in 2016-17.

I guess you choose to forget we had a goalie coach quit due to the handling of Mason?

Maybe it's your age catching up with you.

The Mason stuff was some of the most unhinged I have ever seen posters here. They read like moon landing conspiracies. One person diagnosed that all of his teammates hated him because of one player interview between periods.

Mason as a Flyer - 231 GP at .918 with a worst season of .908

Hart as a Flyer - 207 GP at .906 with a worst season of .877

2015-16 playoffs, Mason 3 starts, 3 losses, .852 Sv%, Neuvirth almost saved their bacon.

Yea but Hart has played behind shittier teams. Check out Masons #s on those shit ass columbus teams before he was traded. They are probably pretty even all things considered

Are you starting to lose your memory? or just ignoring what actually happened?

Game 1 lost 2-0 Caps scored 1 ES goal, 1 PP on 6 attempts
Game 2 lost 4-1 Caps scored 2 PP on 2 attempts
Game 3 lost 6-1 Caps scored 5 PP on 9 attempts

So the Flyers were outscored 4-2 at ES against a better team. IT WAS THE FREAKING PASSIVE PK THAT WE ALL HATED THAT DID THEM IN. Being passive and just letting Ovi and Carlsson bomb away. Oh, and giving up 17 PP attempts in 3 games.

Game 4, we stiched to an aggressive PK and took less penalties and it changed the series. But the one constant, was the Flyers offense. 9 goals in 6 games....never scoring more than 2 in a game.

To try and put the blame all on Mason is just dumb.

They Hakshelled the entire series from start to finish. Didn't even wait until they had a lead. It's the most cowardly hockey I've ever seen, and under this management group that sort of thing is a Flyers staple. Being so scared of the other team scoring that you don't risk anything, and then just slowly lose.

Meanwhile, Rizzo keeps moving along, another 2 points.
5g 3-9 12 +8 [PP 0-3 3]

Rizzo and Devine (7th rd FLA) each have 12 points, the next highest scoring forward on Denver has 4 points.
