That first goal was impressive, he really does look a lot like Brink, not high end speed, but fast enough combined with his edge work to be effective on the move.

Highlights like these are depressing given he will not sign here. He probably knows where he wants to go. Carolina certainly did. They were astute enough to draft him in the 7th round, yet stupid enough to basically give him away. Something does not smell right....
He'd be crazy not to sign with the Flyers, eat a year off his ELC this spring on a team that needs LWs and Centers (depending whether he can stay at center in the NHL). Fastest route to a starting NHL job.

Plus he was a teammate of Brink a couple years ago, so I'm sure Brink will try to sell him on the Flyers.

I think some of the decision was influenced by Carolina's AHL affiliate situation. If Rizzo isnt NHL ready he'd probably be assigned to the ECHL this year or next depending when he signs unless Carolina loans him to a european team and thats probably even less desirable for a canadian kid. Hes always been a late bloomer at previous levels too it looks like, bchl his draft and d1 years and wasnt really lighting it up, he's 22 now so he's kind of a vet by college standards

He missed a season due to COVID at 19 and was a PPG player as a 20 year old Freshman.
So he's a "late bloomer" in the sense he went from a marginal prospect at 20 to a dominant NCAA player at 22.

which is exactly what late bloomer means, he'll have to figure out the pro game the same way he had to figure out bchl and then ncaa. it took him a few seasons, so i expect it to take him some time to adjust to the pro game. for every matt read theres a matt brown.

A young player would not be crazy to try and avoid Tortorella at all costs.
i think torts is perfect for the spot we're in right now . He's someone I think guys benefit having played for even if the team isn't successful. H emphasize things like attitude work ethic and preparation which is useful throughout the career of any player

Phantoms off to a typcialy lackluster start under Lappy.
Which is to be expected with the first line in Philly

What preparation? He doesn't coach and he brags about how he won't bother talking to young players. Not a guy I want handling any development.

andrae on concussion protocol in the first few minutes of the game tonight, smacked the back of his head on the dasher after kind of a late hit but not really dirty, he just wasnt ready for it

A Flyers prospect getting injured in the ahl after being sent down! Color me shocked

*insert Mandolorian this is the way gif*
this is why its hard for 5'9 guys to play pro hockey, its even tough for guys like tyson foerster who arent petite but every player gets injured at some point except phil kessel and keith yandle

You must be new here

Why did they scratch Gendron tonight for some ECHL never was? Real hockey players should be a to play back-to-back....

Maybe because he's 19 and they want to ease him into the AHL.
Odds are he'll spend at least two years in the AHL, which would still make him 21 starting the 2025-26 season.

they kinda do, theyre getting bullied right now.

ya i dont know the lore here, and im not familiar with the locals yet
I've been a long time lurker but barely post here and all ive gathered is that majority here focus on the negative, its always a coach's fault and cant be excited about any prospects lol but to be fair flyers been a shit show for a while now so I dont blame them for blowing off steam

Something to watch in LHV.
While they've shuffled almost everyone else around, the line of Lycksell - Desnoyers - Tuomaala has stayed together.
