I think we want Florida to finish with the 11th overall pick so we get their 2024 1st.

Unless CBJ have an unexpectedly good season, they will probably give us their 2025 2nd rounder instead of their 2024 2nd.

They're off to a slow start, but can't count on them being bad, but if Bob has returned to his "norm," good chance they miss the playoffs. They've lost some talent, the bottom six is pretty weak as Lundell seems to be regressing from his rookie season. Bennett and Montour are on IR, and that leaves the defense thin, Forsling, OEL, Mikkota, Kulikov . . .

I'd be happy picking #11 and #15 or so.

If Florida’s first rounder in the next draft ends up in the top ten, they can keep it and defer the payment to the Flyers until the ‘25 draft. That could well happen. I’ll believe in the ‘24 selection when it happens. Another Fletcher **** up for not getting that ‘24 selection clean.

They'd really have to collapse for that to happen - Florida just has too much talent to be that bad even if Bob reverts to .900 Sv% Bob.

It's more likely this will be like St Louis when they traded a 1st, figuring it would be in the mid-20s, then had an off-season and we got Farabee at #14.

what do you even mean carolina has 6 more prospects than us in the system
So a whole draft

And they were buyers, we were sellers.

Also funny how you want to move on from hextall and Fletch in this thread, yet bring up hextall in other threads.

You can't let go of tbe GM fired 5 years ago yet don't want people mentioning the last 5 years and the shit job Fletch did.

its not a whole draft, the point is carolina's system isnt something to be celebrated right now, are we really singing them praises for having the rights to a bunch of middling khl guys and a few decent ncaa kids?

what in the crazy nonsense are you even talking about here with hextall and fletcher? unless thats directed at someone else, but you should make it clear who youre talking to

I'm not the one pretending that Hextall tried to rebuild.

Briere has been GM since last April, kinda early to pass judgement.
Maybe like wait until after next summer's draft to see what he does (or doesn't do)?

6 picks is pretty much a whole draft....come on.

The point was not to compare quality. It was to compare one team competing was able to draft a bunch more than a team that was sellers multiple times and a non playoff team the last 3 years.

As for the last part...Hex vs Fletch...I apologize. That was directed toward Dead and for some reason, believed I was responding to him. My bad.

Oh look at that. See how easy it was to apologize for being wrong. Maybe some other posters should take note.....and not directing this toward you Tnfrs.

Who said Hextall tried to rebuild? It was clear he rebuilt the prospect pipeline all while trying to compete.

It was you who lied about Hextall not moving out older players for youth. And liars deserve to be called out. Oh, and defending 1 mistake Fletch at the same time.

When Clarke and Holmgren were GM it was 2 drafts....

I was very confused by the double 2nd round picks for a second.

Carolina has our 2nd, we have #51 for JOB, and CBJ's 2nd unless they defer it to 2025.

Yet another amazing accomplishment of CF. A trade in May 2022 will possibly not be realized until June 2025 - how is that even possible?

Top ten protection is pretty standard in almost any 1st rd trade these days, maybe top 3 protected if the trade is for an elite player in his prime. GMs finally learned you shouldn't assume you'll be good in a couple years.

All I'm saying is it's misleading to show us in that graphic having 3 picks in the 2nd when we only have 2, since one of those picks is Carolinas. Unless I am missing something.

We did have (3) 2nds, but traded one into the 2023 draft to take Bjarnason at #51.

That graphic is for 2024 not 2023 and was posted Tuesday. It shows we have three 2nd round draft picks. It's misleading because we only have two. It's misinformation. If you want to show 1 of those picks was traded do like Cap Friendly and drop the opacity.

I didn't post any graphic, so you're barking up the wrong tree.

Right or wrong tree?
