my bad, i was kind of a dick there. but ya samson sat on saturday and gendron sat on sunday, theyve both only played 3 games so far but in those games theyve stood out for the right things so Im confident theyre just easing them into their first seasons and its not a performance thing or punishment

Allison quickly went overrated to underrated within this organization.
Tbh I just don't think he's a good enough player skill wise to play top 6 minutes in the nhl and not good enough defensively or physically for bottom 6 minutes, some people just don't make it in the league and Wade is 26 and hasnt shown shit at the nhl level

That’s kind of what I am saying. He’s not developing other parts of his game. It’s speed, power, skating, shooting.

At this point just keep shooting. Become the best shooter in the world. That’s the more likely scenario than him becoming a well balanced offensive threat.
This is one interesting take on Gauthier. The flyers have traditionally done exactly the opposite and forced their prospects to reinvent themselves instead of building up what makes them interesting, and potentially good, prospects. I don't see Gauthier's skill set as being a good fit as an NHL center. I do see a guy with his size, skating, and clearly plus, plus shot having potential as a very good scoring winger if you put him with someone that can create space and get him the puck.

I'd be thrilled if they let him keep developing what makes him such an intriguing prospect while actually putting him in a position to be succesful with those tools.

Gauthier loves to shoot and loves to carry the puck, hes really good at both but he does both way too much, and I think thats why they want him to be a center in college, he just loves having the puck, but I agree he's way better suited to the wing. If a coach can get him to be less selfish and use his teammates more he'll really evolve his game. His shot can beat goalies clean when they know its coming even when its a low percentage shot, but it becomes pretty easy to defend a guy that thinks hes a one man army. Gauthier and Michkov on opposite wings just seems like it might be a Forsberg/Gagne type beat. I wonder if Couturier will ever lineup in the middle there.

I think play making is overrated for centers, it's easier to find a play making wing than it is to find a full sized center with above average speed who's a two way player. As long as Gauthier is an adequate playmaker, you can pair him with forwards like Brink or Michkov.

Centers have more defensive responsibilities in most schemes, so having a defensive liability at center has a bigger impact than at wing.

No prob. Just seemed out of character. Some posters can be down right brutal. 3 in 3 is a valid concern, I just have little faith in IL......

i know its a tough sell but theyre doing some interesting things in lehigh with the lines, its a lot like the flyers are doing putting youth with vets and running similar schemes and getting them ready for the next level, but lappy is also running lines that are just prospects like lycksell desnoyers and tuomaala, they had zayde wisdom on the top line for a while on sunday, on friday night they were running the power play through Gendron and Samson and they looked great but it was still only their second pro game. stuff is different, everything happening with the phantoms feels different this year and every single player, to a man, looks better, all the new guys look like they belong, aside from the loss against Hartford weve pretty much dominated the games ive watched, ive rarely ever seen phantoms teams that execute set plays and establish in the zone cycling the puck and like make intelligent recoveries lol its usually whale shit hockey

With McCauley as AGM in charge of the Phantoms, and Armstrong as head of player development after two years as an assistant coach with the Phantoms, it would seem they want more focus on development at LHV.

Not sure how much autonomy Lappy has under the new setup.

idk anything about the management guys ive never really paid attention but whoevers telling them how to play is getting the message through, hopefully theyre able to continue and its not just easy against weaker teams but the phantoms look good, theres something there with samu and gendron

I hope you are right. It's been very frustrating to try and follow them these past 4, 5, 6, 7 years!

I was watching the BC vs DU game on ESPN+ this AM. I went in with the intention of watching Cutter, but came away more impressed with Rizzo, from that game. Cutter's Line was up against Rizzo a fair bit during the game... It was annoying because I had to rewind and watch the shifts again.

Cutter Notes:
- As with my last watch, he's trying some subtle offensive passing plays when on the PP, not so much at ES just yet... He's never going to be a playmaker, but it is nice to see that.
- He's still shooting from everywhere at ES
- He's not a center. I can definitively say that after my last year watches and this year watches. I gave him enough watches to see that.
- He's a serious rush threat. Size and speed make him hard to handle. This isn't anything new.
- He glides around in the defensive zone a lot. He looks lost at times. But I couldn't tell if that was him or the system. BC didn't look organized in the defensive zone in general this game.
- He also looked clueless on the PK at times.
- In general, he looked off tonight.

I know this came off as negative, but it was the first watch where I was left disappointed in his game. Sometimes you just have a bad game.

Rizzo Notes:
-First real watch, but he seems like a real prospect
- He's got some puck skills. He's a mature offensive player, they use him on PP entries, and he's a half wall player.
- He's a smart player. His shot/pass selection was good, anticipation was good.
- Good passer, vision is very good. Not afraid to try dangerous passes.
- Decent lateral movement, but lacks top-end speed.
- You can tell he loves when the puck is on his stick. He follows it around and is always putting himself in a position to touch the puck. He wants it...That's a hard attribute to teach.

It will be interesting to watch him more. There is a game against Providence that I'll watch later. But other than that, I don't see any upcoming games on ESPN+...I don't think they play any other Hockey East teams.

Do you think Rizzo he will sign with the Flyers? He is an older player in his last year (?). If he was serious about the Flyers wouldn't he already be in LHV?

Well the Flyers just acquired his rights from Carolina for Kase (and also TDA, but that trade was void), so he doesn't have lots of experience with the team. He's also a junior this year, drafted in 2019, and I think they own his rights for 1 more year @FLYguy3911 can confirm.

The one game I saw, he's worth a 3-year ELC for sure.

He was drafted in 2019 so he actually could have gone UFA this past summer (Aug 15) if he left school. Will be the same this year. Flyers have the exclusive signing window though and can offer to burn an ELC year after his college season is over. I doubt he plays his senior year.

Part of me wonders if Carolina dealt him because they didn’t think they could convince him to sign. Different levels of prospects but Carolina had Adam Fox once upon a time and dealt him also.

Thanks, was thinking the same thing when I was watching him. I'm not sitting here saying he's a can't miss prospect, but he has legitimate talent. He's certainly worth an ELC in my mind.

Gimme a full sized Chris Gratton over a playmaking smurf like Datsyuk, any day of the week.
I like this Datsyuk example, imagine a playmaking smurf like Datsyuk Michkov developing in a system that prioritizes defense like Detroit Philly is building

Carolina has a lot of draft picks from a few previous drafts, so there's a logjam, and Rizzo could probably see that, Flyers will give him a better shot to make the NHL.

Crazy that the team that has been good, has a lots of draft picks.

But the team that has missed the playoffs the last 3 years, and 4 out of 5, don't.

what do you even mean carolina has 6 more prospects than us in the system

I think we want Florida to finish with the 11th overall pick so we get their 2024 1st.

Unless CBJ have an unexpectedly good season, they will probably give us their 2025 2nd rounder instead of their 2024 2nd.
