I was watching the BC vs DU game on ESPN+ this AM. I went in with the intention of watching Cutter, but came away more impressed with Rizzo, from that game. Cutter's Line was up against Rizzo a fair bit during the game... It was annoying because I had to rewind and watch the shifts again.
Cutter Notes:
- As with my last watch, he's trying some subtle offensive passing plays when on the PP, not so much at ES just yet... He's never going to be a playmaker, but it is nice to see that.
- He's still shooting from everywhere at ES
- He's not a center. I can definitively say that after my last year watches and this year watches. I gave him enough watches to see that.
- He's a serious rush threat. Size and speed make him hard to handle. This isn't anything new.
- He glides around in the defensive zone a lot. He looks lost at times. But I couldn't tell if that was him or the system. BC didn't look organized in the defensive zone in general this game.
- He also looked clueless on the PK at times.
- In general, he looked off tonight.
I know this came off as negative, but it was the first watch where I was left disappointed in his game. Sometimes you just have a bad game.
Rizzo Notes:
-First real watch, but he seems like a real prospect
- He's got some puck skills. He's a mature offensive player, they use him on PP entries, and he's a half wall player.
- He's a smart player. His shot/pass selection was good, anticipation was good.
- Good passer, vision is very good. Not afraid to try dangerous passes.
- Decent lateral movement, but lacks top-end speed.
- You can tell he loves when the puck is on his stick. He follows it around and is always putting himself in a position to touch the puck. He wants it...That's a hard attribute to teach.
It will be interesting to watch him more. There is a game against Providence that I'll watch later. But other than that, I don't see any upcoming games on ESPN+...I don't think they play any other Hockey East teams.
