Lazers Laczynski is having a pretty solid game after shitting the absolute bed last night but that Gendron goal was good to see he can jump on those chances and bury them. Tuomaala had one last night and those are the only two reasons to watch the Phantoms if theyre not sending anymore rookies back

I have streamed every knights game. I’m off to check out Brandon@Spokane.
‘when Cowan was finally send down to London, Barkey has become way more productiv.
‘he has some grit, he will hit a bigger guy.
‘I agree, if he improves his skating, he could be a playa.he could be a 2/3 center
There in lies the problem. The Flyers have a tendency to draft players that need to work on their skating. At Barkley's size the skating should be a non-issue......

If skating wasn't an issue, what round would he have gone in?
Got to put it into context, gambling on skating in the 3rd rd is different than gambling in the 1st rd.

JT is a bad defensive player, if Patrick had turned out to be the player he should have been, he might well have been better - was never going to score like JT, but I would never trade peak Couts for JT even though JT outscored him on a regular basis.

I suspect those advanced metric models undervalue defense, the way baseball models used to undervalue defense until they got better stats on runs saved - but you just watch someone like Rojas and you see the difference defense makes - same way in hockey - top defensive players not just stop goals, but turn over possession and flip the ice.

Patrick wasn't surefire enough that he could escape the impact of Flyers priorities. We could watch his playmaking skills decay the more he played here. Which makes sense because the team places no value on such skills.

Gauthier will be absorbed into an unchanged system that will work to get the least out of him. It should not be assumed he can overcome it.

I don't think his skills decreased in the two real seasons he played here. The last season he played he was clearly not right after the head injuries/brain disease.

Not sure he ever was close to 100%. Never looked like the player who was a consensus top 2 pick.

The highest paid players on the 23-24 Phantoms. Of course, Petersen was acquired in a trade which sent Connauton ($450,000) and Hodgson ($800,000) to LA.

$820,000

$450,000

$450,000

$400,000

$775,000

$450,000

$5,000,000

I won’t knock a trade that got Whiney Ivan the hell out of here. Peterson could punch me in the face and I’d still back it.

But they do need to get Sandstrom or Ersson down there soon.

Completely baffling that these idiots are carrying 3 goalies. They must really be worried about this Hockey Canada report if they are this afraid of waiving Sandstrom. Even then, isn't Ersson waiver exempt? What a laughable team.

they could have easily sent ersson down and he could have played this weekend, the only reason to keep sandstrom up was to force danny to waive allison. there were so many options available where they would have risked zero players being claimed but to do it the way they did it is pretty clearly to sacrifice allison maybe even laczynkski. theres no reason why they couldnt have done paper transactions to send 2 waiver exempt rookies down at a time who werent on the game sheet on a given day

I think they want to sneak Sandstrom down now that rosters are set, not so much b/c they see future value in him, but to get the Phantoms a decent starting goalie. Ersson seems set as Hart's backup and possible replacement.

Allison and Laczynski are meh issues, Poehling is two years younger with more upside. On the verge of AHL plus status. Players like Attard, Lycksell, Ginning are at the "do or die" phase of their careers at 24, either step up and force a promotion or get assigned to the AHL plus category like Marody, Brooks, Mete, etc., players who got a couple cameos but couldn't stick in the NHL.

It's the 20-21 year olds that bear watching, Desnoyers, Wisdom, Gendron, Tuomaala, Avon, Grans, Samson.

Most of the top prospects are in the KHL (Michkov, Kolosov, Zavragin), NCAA (Gauthier, Kaplan, Bump, Rizzo), or the CHL (Bonk, Barkey, Bjarnason, Southeran) and Allsvenskan (Ciernak).

It went up at ES from year 1 to 2:

0.97 A/60 in 17-18

1.06 A/60 in 18-19

Didn't play in 19-20

0.42 A/60 in 20-21

There was a dropoff from 17-18 to 18-19 of primary assists at ES from 0.55 primary assists per minute to 0.44 primary assists per minute...And it was much worse at 5v5...0.57 to 0.33

This chart above also indicates there was a dropoff of goal setting (an attempt to define passing ability) right around the middle of his 20 year old season (18-19).

It shows his passing effectiveness dropped during his second season here, it doesn't answer the question why.
