Avs also proved they had Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon.

Vegas proved this past playoffs you absolutely need goaltending to beat the Oilers unless you have Cale and Nate.
Kings will have two shutdown centers and then can free up PLD to run against the Oilers bottom 6. They need a decent goalie, but just need a decent one.

I’d say Vegas also proves you don’t need a top end guy. Good defense and them playing well is all you need.

Brother, the Oilers have slapped the Kings around two years in a row lol. It got worse this past playoffs. Kopitar/Doughty a year older.

They ain't beating Edmonton. Ever.

Vegas proved you don't need a top end guy but Adin Hill sure as f*** played like one against Edmonton. Brossoit doesn't get hurt the Oilers win that series.

i hope we can sign 1 or 2 players on this list

Sharangovich
Miles Wood
Hathaway
Engvall
Kampf
Bunting
Anthony Richard(very fast and one of the best goal scorers in AHL)
And obviously 1 or 2 shutdown dmen younger than Johnson connection.

Adding a quasi 1C and adding young defenseman can’t change things at all.

I would like to know what you think of Nischuchkin's return and how he will be welcomed by the team leaders. Wouldn't it be better to try to exchange it?

Should we offer 1M to each of JJ, Eller and Cogliano?

If Eller doesn't receive a better offer I'd want him back for ~1M. We never have too many centers and while he doesn't have any offense left he's tough to play against, he can play PK and isn't bad on the faceoff dot.

I think Eller is going to get close to $2M.

Of that group, the no-brainer for me is Johnson. His second tour of duty was even better than his first, and I don't think the Avs can find better value for $1M.

Nah, I don't think it'll be a big issue as long as he keeps himself in check this time around.

Also Nuke is way too important to the team when hes focused to just dump to another team.

LA will be very interesting to follow in the next 1-2 years. Great team, great 2-way centers, great start of a rebuild, great team story, great progession... no playoff success. Rebuid not going as well as anticipated... doubt creeping in... Defense isn't enough to win championship in today's NHL, lets bring in offense (Fiala, PLD)... at some point it changes the DNA of a team. Danault specificallt left Montreal because he didn't want to be a 3C. He delivered EVERYTHING asked of him and more. No effing way he'll take it well if he's pushed back to 3C again. NO WAY. Leaders are aging and rebuild isn't providing the expected transition. So where is this going to end ? Success or in the wall ? Very interesting to see how this will unfold. But definitely not the way it was supposed to happen. And again a proof the defense alone can no longer win championships in today's NHL.

Didn't Philly literally just re-sign Sanheim? Or am I thinking of someone else?
His 8 year contract at 6.25M per hasn't even kicked in yet.

Briere tearing down everything that Fletcher has done. I really don't think Torts will stay for more than one season.

So this massive trade we were getting isn't happening because Torey Krug doesn't want to leave Saint Louis, is that it?

I think this one can wait until the TDL. We’ll know more about Landy’s rehab and how the rest of the team is performing.

If the team is a juggernaut you keep him and accept the possibility he walks for nothing. If they look like last year you re-sign him by the TDL or trade him.
Toews won't be traded at the deadline, not happening.

Gotta love avalanche trades. Either they’re super underwhelming or totally unexpected.

Let’s get a winger and a top 4 RD.

Backland is the player I would bet on the most for more Center depth. Nothing to back it on just a hunch I have that he’s going to be the Avs guy this summer.

A PLD/Lindholm style blockbuster would be great but I don’t see it happening. Mack/RyJo/Backlund/Eller is good enough with the other pieces the Avs have.

LHD Sanheim being on the market (signed for 8 X 6.25M) it probably doesn't help if we want to trade Girard.

Avs won’t be getting a Backlund type. Good 4C and the rotation will be MacK-RyJo-Newhook-4C
