I don’t know if he’s been mentioned yet but Arthur Kaliyev might be a good Burakovsky style target. That guy gets open, loves to shoot the puck and is damn good at it. If he put it together with more opportunity he could break out beside a centre like RyJo. Especially with someone like Nuke on the other wing to do so much of the dirty work away from the puck that those two tend to abandon.

I always wonder about guys like Pagnotta posting details about trades well before they are done. Like, is this how Vilardi and Iafollo learn they are about to be traded before Blake tells them?

Agreed , it would suck as a player to find out this way . Could be a Winnipeg « leak » for negotiations perhaps ?

I understand players have the right to use their NTC but at some point it has to feel akward to want to stay with a team trying hard to trade you !

Yeah I almost wonder if perhaps this isn't part of the reason why both Flyers deals from yesterday have supposedly fallen apart.
EDIT: Also if that's true about the PLD deal(I still dont really trust Pagnotta as a reliable source yet), I would venture to guess Winnipeg almost certainly would have wanted Lehkonen from us.
A package from us probably would have looked like Newhook + Lehkonen + picks/prospects.

I wonder, if the Kings were to get PLD.... Any chance they'd make Danault available?
They'd have Kopitar + PLD as the Top 6 Centers next year, with Byfield still on track to replace Kopitar in a year or two.
That would get me to reverse my opinion of CMac pretty quickly, to come out of the summer with Mack/RyJo/Danault as our 1-2-3 Center punch. But as I said yesterday I just dont think the Avs value the center position nearly as much as they should be.

Kings aren't trading Danault, they'll play PLD on the wing until the Kopitar contract expires next summer.
If the Kings do get PLD, and it looks like they will, they'll be one goalie away from being the top dog in the west IMO.
PS: Iafallo and Vilardi is nothing for an extended PLD.

Agreed. The Kings don't even have their first this year. Are the Jets going to tear it down and trade for guys like this?

Problem for LA is, they won't actually get said goalie and will continue to be fodder for the Oilers in the 1st round.

Should we offer 1M to each of JJ, Eller and Cogliano?
If Eller doesn't receive a better offer I'd want him back for ~1M. We never have too many centers and while he doesn't have any offense left he's tough to play against, he can play PK and isn't bad on the faceoff dot.

1M is too much for JJ. I’d hope he’d take a league min contract to stay.
Eller would be a great fourth line C. I’d easily take him at 1M but I think he gets closer to 2 from someone else.
I think that team needs Cogs too. Strictly for the locker room.

Avs also proved they had Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon.
Vegas proved this past playoffs you absolutely need goaltending to beat the Oilers unless you have Cale and Nate.

Eller, yes. I wouldn't for the other two.
Cogliano is similar to Helm from last season. He's being held together by glue at this point. They ran it back with veteran leader guy once already and it's time to move on now. He was awesome and much needed during the SC run and then got rewarded with another deal. Everyone did their part here, thank him and move on.
