Another nonsensical CBJ offseason to try and keep them in the middle. Provorov isn’t that guy and hasn’t been for years. I like Severson but that contract will be bad.

Personally, I’m not a believer in Werenski being a guy to build a defense around either between his injuries and mistakes. Top pair for sure and a #1 when everything is going to plan but I don’t see it enough.

Hayes coming next….
He won't need to be once Jiricek gets a couple years under his belt.

Provorov is a solid Top 4 guy and I expect him to look a lot better now that he won't have to carry an entire defense by himself like he had been asked to do in Philly. Severson sucks and that contract is going to brutal for them, just like Gudbranson.

That said, I still don't really know why they felt the need to go get both Provorov and Severson. Especially when they have so many good Dmen they've drafted in the last couple years.

Between Jiricek, Mateychuk, and Ceulemans they really just needed like 1 more D and then to be patient another year or so for those guys to come along.

All moves that we would have appreciated during the decade of suck.

One thing you can't blame Jarmo for is trying. Outside of kidnapping, he's done everything he possible can to put an entertaining/competitive product on the ice. I think you and many others are forgetting how hard it is to get UFAs to sign in Columbus. You can't blame Jarmo for the location of the franchise.

Also, Columbus is a hell of a lot nicer city than 98% of this board gives it credit for. I would actually prefer living there to Denver to be honest. But that's probably just because I'm not a drug-snorting, whore-chasing, millionaire, professional athlete in their 20s.

And not like you can tank with Laine, Gaudreau and Werenski on the roster either. And if you can't tank properly, might as well go for it.

Other than Dubois , who wants out ? Sorry not being rude just maybe I missed something ?

Hellebuyck stated he was not interested in a rebuild but that’s all I can think of .

It came out today that Helleybuck has told the Jets he absolutely will not sign another contract with them(Or any Canadian team), so he's gone along with PLD. Lots of speculation that Wheeler and Scheifele want out as well.

I think Provorov plus Severson is a better value for money than Seth Jones's contract in Chicago, the last big name player to leave the 'Bus.

UFA class is particularly weak this off-season, I bet Jarmo thinks it's worth paying a little more to make sure that he gets somebody of clear NHL caliber in.

Players (mostly Americans) not wanting to play in Canada is a huge issue for Canadian teams and no one in the media wants to talk about it.

People wondering why Canada hasn't won the cup in 30 years would quickly get their answer if the league would release the list of teams on player NMCs. I wish they'd make them public.

Avs can't afford a 3M 3rd liner and Philly isn't wasting a retaining slot on him.

Tbh I thought Laughton was at $3.5M, just m seeing he's only $3M now.

That's a perfect contract for a 3C for us tbh. I just dunno if we have the assets to get him and a 2C.

Unless you could do something like our 1st + Newhook+ to get the 2C(Probably looking at Scheifele or Backlund rather then Lindholm or PLD at that price) and then a deal around Girard for Laughton in the next deal.

No one wants to come to Colorado as a free agent. Wether it because Colorado is in fly over country, taxes, etc. I’m really starting to get annoyed by Canadians and their butt hurt

lol you actually believe that many players have Colorado on their no trade list?

What a weird take.

Players would love to come to the Avs. Not many are willing to take a hometown discount because there aren't many players from Denver and there isn't any tax advantages or big city lights. But to state no one wants to come here is simply untrue. The Avs would be high on most free agent lists, but money talks and they usually aren't one of the highest bidders.

Just go get Hayton and Laughton, they combine for 4.7
If dealing with Arizona, I'm trying to land Hayton, Crouse and as many of Little, Voracek and Weber as I can. It's Stan's money, I'll take every LTIR contract I can to get us as much cap space as possible (or am I not understanding how LTIR works still?).
