What’s Allison’s potential ? I’ve seen a few posters talk about him before
Today's Josh Anderson. Flawed 3rd line power forward that plays the game hard and could be a PP asset in front of the net. He's got a much worse injury history though and odds are his body won't ever hold up. If it does, you might get a 20-10 guy who has a lot of sandpaper.

Orlov wants an 8 spot... and decent chance he may get it. IMO Toews is better than Orlov and will be in more demand.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. Toews' next contract is going to be ugly as shit. But I still fully expect MacFarland to extend him and trade Girard.

Orlov could absolutely get 8 on the market. I agree with you @The Abusement Park , I would never give him that sort of money, but I think he’s entitled to it. I would be more around a 7x4 personally, but I think he’ll be able to find better deals than that.

- Laughton talk: Someone I would absolutely take here, but not at a high amount and not someone you want to overpay for.

- PLD talk: I normally agree with @Pierce Hawthorne on everything, but I just can’t find myself wanting Dubois, even if it’s on a 7x7. The bloke has quit on too many teams for my liking to have any trust or faith in him. He seems like someone who rather exit a situation when it’s not working out instead of trying to fix the situation. That’s the sign of a quitter for me.

- Winnipeg Jets talk: If they are on the verge of having to blow it up, Lowry needs to be acquired at all costs. He’s playing as a #3, but I suggest he IS a #2 who is one of the best two way centres in the entire game. For all the craziness of Danault, Lowry is a better player and was the only one on the Jets that had a truly beast playoff run against the Knights.

- Bruins talk: Boston doesn’t need to get rid of Hall to save cap, they need to get rid of Coyle first and foremost. The problem for them is that Hall and Coyle both have M-NTC/NMC so it will be tough to move both of them. They can also get rid of DeBrusk who is one year away from being UFA (even tough I think there have been rumours of him signing an extension).

Friedman said this morning LA is going to take a big run a PLD.
It frankly makes a ton of sense... they need to make a lasat go with Kopi and Doughty still playing well, it solidifies any questions on their centers (IE the Byfield question), and on top of that, they can make a huge move to grab the goalie as well. Say LA gets Helly and PLD... I don't see how they don't immediately become WC favorites.

The retention on Provorov would make even less sense.

That said if Byfield is on the table for a Helle & PLD blockbuster the Jets will probably bite.

Who goes the other way and how do they make it work cap wise, at 8 mill for PLD and 6 for Helly that puts them 7 mill short plus 2-3 roster spots to fill out.

They retained to dump a lot more. They netted a good amount of space in that team. Winnipeg can retain 50% of Helly for a year to balance out for now.

I don't see Byfield as a guy in the deal. Arvidsson + Vilardi + pick 2 prospects not named Clarke for PLD + Helly at 50%... probably some window dressing needed depending on the prospect names.

Helly at 50% saves 3m and Arvidsson is another 4.25m. They may have to do something with Matt Roy, but they'd be close with that.

Does Winnipeg want to retain 3+mill on Helly? I'm sure they can trade him somewhere for something decent without having to retain salary. For an organization bleeding cash that would seem logical.

It gets closer, but you still have to replace these players you are trading away. Arvidson has been pretty good for them.

I'm sure they don't want to, but there probably isn't another trade partner that has the number and quality of expendable young players that LA does that can be a fit. LA can give away 2 guys with top 9 forward potential and a middle pairing upside D without blinking... all of the can be under 25. For a team that needs to re-tool that proximity and talent has a draw.

He has been good for them, but the writing is on the wall with him anyway. Helly at 50% and dumping Arvidsson gets them to the point where they have to figure out ~3 spots and we're looking at 6-7D and 4th line forward (where they have guys on ELCs ready). Maybe they have to dump Roy or play some LTIR games... but they are close with that.
