I remember listening to Stauffer the day after the Nyland fiasco years ago and he little had no idea what to say.

the only thing I can compare his show that day is Charlie Brown trying to kick a ball and Lucy pulling it away
Pretty sure that was before Stauffer was an Oiler employee. When he was on Total Sports I remember him being very critical of the Oilers. Often ripping into their refusal to give young guys like Schremp a chance.

All I remember was him going on and on about how great of a fit Nylander would be and other things and then his next show he was so confused

It makes sense in both respects, because his focus is working for the team, so he likely doesn't make as many contacts because he's providing different entertainment and he would have knowledge of the signings because of proximity. I do suspect he has an idea who the team might be looking at.
I respectfully disagree. He doesn’t even know line changes that will happen - and he’s friends with Knoblauch. I don’t think the management team leak anything outside the management team unlike prior regimes. Now- if they trade for Rantanen - then I will concede…;)

It was. I think those were the EIG days and he is very close to the Nichols family (like he loves to mention on his show almost daily)

If Stu gets traded it would be like Christmas for me. Gibson with pikard as back up please. lol. Will never happen but I can dream.

Sarcasm my man lol

I will agree with my pundits. We lost for 2 reasons

Skinner is just an overall Sieve.

Our top stars did not produce when it mattered the most. They carry the water here though, but I can agree with that as well.

I trust our top guys producing consistently over Swiss Cheese randomly improving his atrocious playoff stats. Big boy shave a great track record

Big boy in net..Not so much
If Mcdavid, draisaitl (esp draisaitl if he can stay healthy the entire playoffs) and the goaltending can actually hold up, the cup should be very possible this year. Remember skinner was garbage and draisaitl couldn’t do anything the last few rounds last year. The last few playoffs actually. Really bad luck staying healthy.

Baby wipes comon man.

just watched the highlights from the playoffs. Skinner was hot garbage in rounds 1 and 2. Oilers got lucky they played the kings, who couldn’t kill a penalty, and the canucks, who could barely get 20 shots a game. If they need to yank Skinner again- it’ll be against Colorado or Vegas. Oilers aren’t going to survive that. If that is the risk the Oilers are willing to take on both their cup chances and McDavid leaving- well that’s on them.

Side note- I forgot how much of a beast Holloway was. He scored some huge goals
In that run.
This is exactly what I'm saying. Round 1 possibility is Colorado, then if you survive that your onto most likely vegas. 2 of the most offensive teams in the league. No way do I see Skinner having the consistency to hold the fort . But hey what do i know

So because we don't like the players Seravalli is connecting us to, now he's suddenly a fraud? He was first to break the Rantanen deal among many others (yep, he did beat Friedman to the punch).

Everyone connected to the Oilers, including the GM himself, have stated they're happy with the goaltending. We're most likely not making a splashy acquisition and certainly not trading for a goaltender, get over it and move on.

Keep that same energy when we’re getting 890% goaltending in the playoffs.

Been saying it for weeks. We're not getting a goalie. We are adding 1 forward and let's hoe like hell it's top 6 and bottom 6.

There is a difference between coming on here and posting that you want to talk to a Mod because a Gibson deal is done and being realistic about what will really happen this deadline.

Like you I hope for a goalie, but we have to realize this isn't going to happen. Maybe for good reason. We also don't need to crap on posters being realistic about our deadline moves.

Saravalli slamming the brakes on Oiler trade deadline situation is a major eye opener. My own speculation is he's hearing directly from Kane and his agent about intention to come back before the regular season ends.

This situation has always been beyond team control. Why Bowman has always been cautious and noncommittal about Kane's situation. He can't intrude or risk collusion calls by the league and frankly a potential player grievance from the NHLPA if Kane felt he was being pressured. Kane is a player (person) who doesn't passively toe the company line or conforms to external pressures. He's driven by his deep belief in himself and ego that he can be a difference maker for this team. I have zero doubt his singular focus is on returning asap whether or not that align's with a perceived team benefit to wipe out this regular season to bulk up roster vulnerabilities.

The Oilers are dancing on the head of a pin while other key prospective opponents appear to have greater clarity and means to bulk up with the upcoming deadline arms race. A tricky situation that could have a major effect on chasing the Cup.
It's a fireable offense if the Oilers don't absorb Kane's LTIR into deadline cap space while other organizations like the team they're battling with for the division title does it every year.

Bowman has his faults but I don't buy for one second that he isn't aware of this and had a long talk with Kane and his camp about the intentions here. There's zero motivation for Kane to intentionally screw the team by coming back for the regular season. Bowman is a seasoned GM, I'm sure there's a plan here beyond McCarron for a 2nd and money in money out at the deadline. Seravalli is well plugged in but he also has his share of moronic takes, with this being another one.
