Brisson made those original comments because PLD didn't have a contract. I am sure now he is wanting to tone it down because the situation is different.

I will be very surprised if Dubois ends up anywhere else. It is going to be Montreal even if he has a 1 year stop with a contending team.
Montreal before or at the draft I read

I think these new reports of a potential long term sign and trade suggest he might be willing to go elsewhere long term, but there are also some comments in that article that suggest Brisson/Dubois can still drive the bus where they go, even though he doesn't have a NTC.

"Of course, they will need to determine the willingness of those teams to add Dubois and his new contract before putting them on their list. The Canadiens, who reached out to the Jets as soon as their season ended, will be on that list."

"Meanwhile, Brisson can begin talking to those teams about the parameters of a new contract."

"The sense we get is Dubois would be willing to adjust his salary demands based on the situation of his new team."

So in the end, it sounds like Brisson is in a position to negotiate who they sign with, which will decide which teams are on the trade list, and ultimately drive who he's traded to.

And it's interesting they're reporting Montreal is already on the list, presumably before they even talked about a contract.

If Brisson and Dubois want, they can totally drive the bus to Montreal if that's their priority. Or not, if it isn't. Gonna be an interesting few weeks leading up to the draft.

What would you want Philly to add to a trade of Girard for Hayes @5M?

Perhaps we can add JTC's rights+ something to get Laughton included too.

This is actually good for the acquiring team that they can talk frameworks of deals to be includes in the list of 5 or 6 that WPG can then decide on.

This just mean the acquiring team needs to have the 5th or 6th best offer to WPG and the best offer to WPG.

It's better than what Vancouver does which is restrict communication.

At least they won't lose him in 2 years, unlike Provorov

Jarmo sucks
Your hate boner is showing

To me, Provorov is a good deal. Only 2 years (not locked into a bad contract) and they can sell him at the 25 deadline for roughly what they paid. This deal they have a bad contract on the books for 8 years. That’s much worse

The term especially will suck for CBJ. But do we think Jiricek will be better than Severson next year? If he’s the 4D I feel like that’s the best situation for utilizing Severson.
Yeah I think he will be next year. This is Jarmo knowing the team has to play better next year for the economic health of the team. So two massive insurance moves for a team that got hit hard on defensive injuries

I’d absolutely hate to have that Severson contract on the books but still Columbus has drastically improved their blue line. Say what you want about Provy and Severson but they are top 4 defenseman. They already have a #1 in Werenski and Jiricek is an absolute sicko. I don’t follow prospects like I once did but he’s my favorite prospect out there right now.

Got to agree, not sure I've ever seen Jarmo make a good move.

He's clearly trying to get better than last year but handing out long bad contracts and trading for a guy that will walk in two years, doesn't seen like a great way to go about getting better.

Yeah the contract definitely sucks, but even then the defense is vastly improved from last year. I’m curious to see how the group performs this season.

So what's so special about Lundell anyways? I watch him play and I don't see anything special. He's kinda slow, kinda soft, makes a nice pass once in a while, has a slow release.

I definitely wouldn't trade Byram for him as some suggested in this thread.

Team finished 31/32 (!!!) and he trades a 1st round pick for 2 year rental with a bad rap...then turns around and signs a contract that makes last year Gudbranson's signing look like a steal (and gave up a 3rd for the privilege of doing this).

Jarmo is making sure that the absolute ceiling for that franchise is and will always be a mediocre playoff bubble team. To me he's literally the absolute worst team architect in the league.

He's a future Selke-candidate if he continues to develop. Very smart player, though it's hard to judge what player he actually is. Had a fantastic year last year, looked worse this year (sophomore slump?)
