Tank would be great on a short term deal. I just don’t know how you swing it without some salary dumping.

Honestly...where's the fit for Tank here? Hear me out.

We signed Drouin and you can bet your asses that he'll be given a long look next to MacKinnon. Much like it's been said before, I don't know where he fits in if he's not Top 6, and if he's Top 6 you need to put him with finishers (MacKinnon).

So to get Tarasenko to sign, you probably have to guarantee him a Top 6 spot. For us that means we either move Drouin off the Top 6 (which is likely to happen anyway, but it's not going to be a great look to do that before he even plays a game). So you don't move Drouin (despite him probably not deserving of the spot right away), who are you then going to move? Mikko is probably playing with MacK and Drouin; are you really going to move Lehkonen or Nichushkin to the 3rd line?
Yeah, I'm thinking that this is the top-6 we are going to the season with. We might add at the deadline if necessary. But Drouin will no doubt get his shot with MacK. The other wingers are set with Nuke, Lehkonen and Rantanen.

I really don't think Tarasenko would accept 1 year 3M offer here, not at age 31 (and his ego).

But if he were to accept that we'd have a hell of a top 9.

Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Tank - RyJo - Rants
Wood - Colton - Lehky

That's a Stanley cup winner top 9.
I think Tarasenko is looking for a longer deal, or at the very least bigger AAV.

I don't know about moving Lehky to the 3rd line. MacK seems to be best when he has a guy on his wing that likes to go to the dirty areas. Guys like Landy, Nuke and Lehky.
I mean if you get Tank I think you run

Nuke-Mack-Drouin
Mikko-Ryjo-Tank
Wood-Colton-Lehky

If Pagnotta is to be believed, he said the rumoured Hurricanes deal was between 3M - 4M.

Hence why Nichushkin would play with MacKinnon and you can then run what's quoted above.

He rejected the canes deal apparently. We won’t be landing tarasenko

Not much noise with Nick Ritchie. Other than being a LW instead of an RW feels like a good fit for the Avs to me, good quality for a third liner but could move up if needed. Can they get him around the Rodrigues price?

Nick Ritchie sucks and is dumber than dumb. That's the easiest pass in the world.

I read that Lafreniere is actually available. I'd like to see the Avs acquire him as a safety net in case the whole Drouin thing doesn't work out - since I'm not 100% sure that it will.

I don't think he'd cost too much to sign and could be a nice fit in the Top-9 and potentially Top-6 eventually. I still think it was a bad fit with the Rangers and he ends up a 25G-25A guy at minimum.

Don't know what the cost would be to acquire but having received that extra 1st from the Newhook deal should put the Avs in a position to give up the 2024 pick for some immediate help.

Surprised we haven’t heard anything about Patrick Kane

maybe Zadina was hanging with Vrana ??
