Everybody assume Colton's contract is holding up the other moves but maybe it is the other way around. Maybe CMac is being very patient to make his last moves to save as much as he can on those so he can give Colton what he is asking for. I think that would explain why Colton elected for arbitration. He had to as security until the other moves are done.

He did one on July 1st or 2nd after he made all the moves I think

This whole time I thought he hadn't done one, which meant they might still be in the hunt for good UFA's.

I really don't understand the Avs website and their apathy towards uploading these videos. They just never upload press conferences all the time.

They never uploaded the presser with Joe and MacKinnon on the golf course when he signed his big deal. There's been other examples as well. How you not gonna upload the presser for your star franchise player signing to become the highest paid player in the NHL? So weird.

Avs team coverage is the worst

To be fair, in his presser, he did indicate that they were still looking at depth and monitoring other deals. This was on July 1st in the evening.

They the signed Cogliano and JJ afterwards.

But the Avs have space for at least 1, probably 2 more moves. It all depends how much buffer they want to leave themselves during the season.

I<ve asked, but I'm not sure what the Avs need to be careful of with respect to LTIR, as in, how close can they get without risking issues during the season due to injuries, etc.

Tampa and Jeannot is the one that I'm fascinated with. They've got 2,975M in LTIR space remaining. Now, I don't know what he gets because he followed his 41 point year with a "definitely NOT 41 point" year last year. But damn...
After all they gave up to get him. Love it!

Seems like CMac also gave his post-season presser at the start of the playoffs instead of at the end when we were eliminated. Worked out great for him with the whole Nuke fiasco.

He did a brief one after the playoffs, when he joined the video call after Gabe's announcement that he'd be having surgery.

i'm scare that the asking price will be steep , LAF was a 1OA only 3seasons ago after all . I'm pretty sure his value is still sky high. I dont Drury doing a favor to his buddy Sakic with a player with so much upside.
I'm not sure Drury is dealing from a position of strength at all. If they loved him and he was awesome they wouldn't be moving him at all.

So IF the report is true and he is available - it's unlikely that he's going to get full value for him.

Tarasenko has openly complained about not being named captain, has gotten mad at teammates for calling him “tank” because he takes it as a fat insecurity, has slowed down considerably, is one of the worst defensive forwards in the league and fired his agent a few days into free agency because he doesn’t like the dollar values he’s been offered despite having already made like 70M in his career.

He seems like as opposite a fit as there could possibly be in Colorado.

I'm watching videos on Andreas Johnsson, and now I think he'd be a great pickup. Might have some familiarity with Miles as well.

I'm ready for Colton's contract to be done with.

He stated in an interview dating back 2015 that he doesn't like it because of its connection to war and the way his grandparents went through WW2. Probably would not like it today either. I think he made it clear early on with the Rangers that he would prefer Vladdy or something like that.

I would like Tarasenko here, but I doubt we can make it work. He's not signing for league minimum, at least not in Colorado.

What about if Zadina is bought out a minimum contract paid all up front as a signing bonus. If it works great. If not they can terminate the contract and he can go to Europe while still getting two paydays for the year.

Johnsson is probably going to be a PTO player. He spent almost all year in the AHL for the Devils, then when he got an NHL chance with SJ broke something (his foot I think?).

I could be wrong, but I don't think we'll hear news on him until closer to training camp. As a 3RW, Colorado needs to aim higher because of how up and down Johnsson has been over the last few seasons.

I think the Avs are going to be in on RFAs that other teams maybe can't or don't want to sign and they'll swoop in with a trade.

They really need to make sure that they get a player that can fill-in on the Top-6 if Drouin doesn't work out or in case of injuries. Sort of the way Rodrigues was used last season.

Nothing Avs related, but re: Tarasenko - Friedman mentions Carolina, Nashville, Ottawa, and San Jose as the teams who have/had interest in Tarasenko.

Avs are probably done right now until the trade deadline. They have a good enough roster right now to be on top of division at least top 3 or top 2, then they’ll make final roster moves at the deadline as they’ll get an idea what else they need until March.

Lehky-MacK-Nuke
JD-RyJo-Mikko
Wood-Colton-LOC
Olofsson-Meyers-Cogs

Toews-Makar
Byram-Manson
Girard-JJ
Hunt
MacDermid

Georgie
Frankie

That’s a strong enough roster to go until the deadline without having to worry about them falling out of playoffs or anything, but I’m sure they’ll add couple of more pieces in March

Id be willing to bet that the Avs make at least 1, maybe 2 more pickups. Whether that's direct signings, PTOs, whatever. They're gonna add 1 or 2 more NHL bodies to withstand injuries, have depth, etc.
