The Avs have had interest in Zadina before, but I said it in his draft year and it remains even more true to this day... the more you watch Zadina, the less you like him. He's a NHL player for sure IMO, but I just don't know how good of one. Maybe a low end 2nd line guy on a bad team is his ceiling.

That's the main issue with his game... he's really not good at anything. There is nothing in his game to hang his hat on at the NHL level and make a career on. His shot is useless because first off, it isn't that great to begin with... but more than that, he takes his shots away from scoring areas because he's not willing to go to them.

One thing that points to Zadina having something click though is if he's with a couple good finishers, there should be a decent uptick in production. There are some micro stats on shot assists and chances in scoring areas that have an uptick compared to players around the NHL. You put him with Pasta and Zacha... you might see his assists jump as he feeds Pasta who can score from anywhere and Zacha can dirty area play quite well. He will have to be spoonfed those minutes though.

I know, they might want to keep that space for the deadline to see what the team needs. Maybe Drouin thing doesn’t work out and they need a top 6 winger etc…
