If you get the best player in the trade you generally win the trade (there are exceptions, of course) so L.A. 'win' this one, But Winnipeg did well for themselves by getting a player that had no intention of staying with them. The Jets are going to have a summer similar to Calgary's 2022 so the best they can hope for is depth, young pieces, and finding chemistry amid the changes as soon as possible.

Yikes that's a terrible deal for LA and a big win for Winnipeg. Guy was forcing his way out and getting that kind of package is a win.

Vilardi, Iafallo and Kupari? Those are 2 quality youngish NHLers and a decent 4th liner in Kupari. Plus a 2nd. All for a 65pts Dubois and a 8.5M contract... yuck.
This trade will look like Florida/Calgary last year and LA will be Florida. They get the best player by a mile and signed for his entire prime. PLD is a huge center and a playoff beast.

WPG gets an OK winger who could be gone in 2 years and Vilardi who's a question mark.

Huge win for LA.

Keep the picks.

We need young players on ELC's soon here and I'm definitely not trading either of these 3 picks for a rental.

#27- Calum Ritchie, C- Oshawa
#31- Riley Heidt, F- Prince George
#37- David Edstrom, C- Sweden
Yes, yes, yes to Calum Ritchie at #27 but unfortunately, I don't think he'll be there when we pick. However, the Avs NOW have what would be needed to move-up and get him though, if that's the player they've identified they need. Personally, he is one of my favourites in this draft and I believe he's a Top-6 guy in the NHL in 2 years maybe less. Frikkin' fantastic prospect !

No, no, no to Riley Heidt at #31 or at #37 !! I've been watching the U18s and I don't care how many points he put up in Prince George [97] I've seen too many plays die on his stick. Even though he's highly-skilled, to me he is the epitome of a Top-6 or bust prospect and this isn't the type of player the Avs should be investing in.

Hopefully add Toffoli to that as well. We’d have a good solid foundation.

Lehk-Mack-Mikko
Nuke - RyJo - Toffoli
xxxx - Backlund - LOC

I know you all like Toffoli, but I can't get past his lack of speed. I won't cry, but I hope they pull off something different. He's also a buy high rental it seems.

I will say that it's a great day to pretend to be working while I'm shit posting with you gents

Jealous, I've got too much shit to do that I need multiple screens. Or I'd post one of me floating on lake St Clair lol.

5G is the shit lol, you can work from anywhere off a phone hot spot.

I'm taking Monday off for a four day weekend though. So I'll survive lol.

I could see the Avs keeping the 3 picks and re-signing JTC as a 3C.

Then sign a few 1M guys to patch holes (including Drouin) and call it a day.

Yeah, that would be great, 3 guys about ready to get tiny NHL development roles right as our core gets old, absolutely perfect.

Um no. Last I checked teams draft players to take over from the guys who got old. Are you new to this?

Rights to Ranta and a 2nd for a resigned Sharangovich at 4x4.

This Newhook deal gives the Avs a lot of ammo. Is it Schiefele or is it someone completely out of nowhere like Johansen was?

I used to have a 3 monitor setup, but now my typical setup is just a 40" 4K TV with a bunch of virtual desktops I swap between with keyboard shortcuts. So working just on my laptop is still as productive (when I'm not on HF ).

I'm lucky enough that I can work entirely offline since all the services I work on are just dockerized and talk to a local database. It's so nice not having to have internet. My last job required me to VPN to each service. It was a nightmare to get anything done away from my desk.

I like the PLD trade for both teams.

LA consolidates some of their meddling pieces for a big one. They can survive the numbers game by elevating guys out of juniors and minors. They need to figure out goaltending and if they have to dump one more contract.

LA sold high on Vilardi despite his arbitration case, Kupari is kinda meh (not sold on him), Iafallo is a nice middle 6 piece, and a 2nd is just a 2nd. Still though Jets got some good young pieces who can step into the lineup today and if Kupari breaks out, they got 3 middle 6 guys (Vilardi is really a solid 2nd line wing) plus a mystery box for a guy who wanted out.

You and I have very differing opinions on PLD. He is a 2C and IMO 3rd team at age 24 doesn't look great and demanding out of a least one of them.

LA is going to be a bitch to play against (not that they already weren't) once they get their goaile situation figured out.

Any one interested in Miles of Wood? 😬
Nuke's hooker friend

I think the Jets did great given the mandate to clear the deck and the lack of leverage they had. 3 forwards that will be in lineup on opening night for a distressed asset with a limited number of potential destinations.

We are on the same page. PLD has all the tools, and I think part of the fascination with a guy like him is that when he flashes that ability it’s very enticing. However, he has produced predominantly as a 2C, and this “playoff beast” reputation he has is not backed by his actual production (26 points in 38 games)

Yeah, I'm stuck with a Federal VPN lol. It's not horrible, but at times shuts 25% of my job down. I have a bigger pipe at home than the office does actually lol. 1.2Gigs

I haven't tried putting stuff on the 75", last time I tried to remote to it, didn't work. I just enjoy the giant Roku fish tank lol.

I could hardwire it, but haven't made the effort. I'll have to figure out the virtual desktop thing. That sounds slick.

I bought a few 4k external cards, or your tax dollars did if you're in the US, so I can run as many screens as I have USB 3.0 slots. Had to get past the stupid Intel Graphics card limitations only using 2 of the three screen outputs on the Dell dock.

Good times lol
