LA still need a goalie, they aren't done

Highly doubt they traded for PLD and then turn around and trade Danault though, it wouldn't make much sense.

Keep the picks.

We need young players on ELC's soon here and I'm definitely not trading either of these 3 picks for a rental.

#27- Calum Ritchie, C- Oshawa
#31- Riley Heidt, F- Prince George
#37- David Edstrom, C- Sweden

Yeah, that would be great, 3 guys about ready to get tiny NHL development roles right as our core gets old, absolutely perfect.

Avs are in their win now window. Plus I have zero faith in the Avs scouting staff to make the 10th OA pick, let alone 27, 31, and. 37.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but Capfriendly disagrees with you.

My bad, thanks for the update.

It does still look like they’re likely to be over the cap when they fill out the roster though. I’d suspect they probably need to make another move.

LA was always going to have to move out some prospects/youngsters…no room for them all. Really think they’re just going all in, which I think is the smart move. Kopitar/Dubois/Danault gives them real horses down the middle to face Edmonton in the playoffs.

Still very surprised Dubois cost that much given the limited competition…

Iafalo could be gone in 2 years so it comes down to Vilardi who's 23 and pretty much a gamble with his history.

I'm not sure why people think they paid that much, to me LA is the clear winner unless Vilardi can stay healthy and become a top line player.

When thinking about who we try to flip these picks we have now for, I’m guessing CMac will try to get options with at least one additional year.

We're in our cup window. I'd rather use the pics to get players with retention. Even if they're bottom 6 guys.

Yikes that's a terrible deal for LA and a big win for Winnipeg. Guy was forcing his way out and getting that kind of package is a win.

Vilardi, Iafallo and Kupari? Those are 2 quality youngish NHLers and a decent 4th liner in Kupari. Plus a 2nd. All for a 65pts Dubois and a 8.5M contract... yuck.

I kinda just strikes me as a lot of quantity….LA didn’t give up anything/anyone special.

Really? Vilardi is the only piece that really would get me too excited as a Jets fan. Iafallo is just a depth winger and Kupari seems like a fine prospect but nothing to write home about.

Dubois is 65pts 2C that was forcing his way out and is now making 8.5M the next 8 years. That's incredibly too much. Iafallo and Vilardi can both play at minimum middle 6 if not 2nd line. Vilardi could easily end up a solid 50-60pts 2C himself.

Iafallo has been a solid player and a playoff performer.

Sure — Vilardi could be. I just don’t think decent depth players was LA’s problem. Danault did a hell of a job against McDavid last year. Adding a big 65+ point centre down the middle is a pretty big boost for LA. That’s an awfully strong centre core. They’ve still got plenty of upside with Byfield and Kaliyev. If they figure out their cap, their talented youth take another step, and they fix their goalie issues I think LA is now a top contender. I don’t think they lost anything special in Lafollo, Kupari, or the 2nd. It all depends on Vilardi. Kinda reminds me of Buffalo giving us Z, Compher, 31 overall, and Grigorenko for ROR.
