Look--I get it, he seems like a nice guy and all that. I want him to succeed in the NHL, but he didn't fit on this club anymore. NOW, he gets an opportunity to go out and earn a nice paycheck and have a longer career, but he was going to be sorely miscast as a bottom-6 player on this team.

Maybe this means we can sign JT as our 3C now, which is definitely a step up productively (which people seem intent on). Or maybe RyJo plays 3C and JT 2C.

Philly already turned down a similar offer for Laughton. Sharangovich is worth a 2nd. That's a pretty well established market.

They're rumored to be looking for a mobile defenseman, and Girard's contract is nice and affordable for a top 4 guy. Not so much for a bottom pairing guy.
