Interesting read explaining in details why Newhook's strengths were a bad fit for the Avs style.

I think being more free to make mistakes playing for a team without expectations might help him.

I don’t understand at all how his ‘speed game’ is a better fit for Montreal. He’s also, not that high end of a skater at the NHL level. Good skater, not a great skater. That checked out in Colorado and will in Montreal too.

If the rest of his game grows they’ll have a nice player, but it seems like the scouting report on the skating is outdated.

I would really like to see this play out but I also wouldn't mind seeing us sign an established 3W if we can. Signing a 2W or trading Girard for one I think is a pipe dream.
I think if we give Foudy a month or two and it's not working out, we absolutely need to be working the trade lines trying to find a resolution instead is sitting on it until the deadline.

Tatar is a passable name in a top 9 if you get him cheap. Noah Gregor though is the name I'd watch for the Avs.
I know nothing about Gregor besides he seems like a full lot of meh player.

Which I guess is exactly what Boqvist is as well.

I’m glad Avs aren’t picking up this remaining free agents even if they are cheap. Save that cap space, trade for more impactful players at the trade deadline.

Gregor skates, hits, and shoots the puck. Which is pretty much to job description for the bottom 6 under Bednar.

I still don't get this logic. You need to fill the spot somehow, and Sundqvist/Boqvist are cheaper than Meyers/Foudy/Pavel.
There aren’t many spots left to fill out, it will be better if they fill them out with better players who will have better impact for a cup run

Better players cost more money. There will be at least 1-2 roster spots making under a mil, and Boqvist/Sundqvist will have a bigger impact than the prospects in our system.

I mean... They still have to fill out the roster. Boqvist and Sundqvist literally just signed for league minimum. You can't fill out the roster with cheaper contracts.

Ben Meyers for example had a QO of I believe $870,000. So if he's who they fill out the 4th line with, he's going to cost 100k more than what Boqvist would have cost us to be the 4C.
