I know he was acquired in the Meier trade but what Fabian zetterlund and Mario Ferraro? Unless Karlsson gets them some better assets
I'm still trying to find a combo that Girard can get us.
I mean that’s not entirely true. His most common line mates were obviously LOC and Cogs. But his next most common linemates last year were JTC, Mikko, Nuke, and Rodrigues. In fairness to Newhook he really only played 3rd and 4th line here, which didn't fit his game at all since our 3rd and 4th lines were really low skill and slow last year, so I understand the comment.
The Avs realistically only have 1 forward spot left which is 3rd line RW. I understand that there are cheap guys that have been signed but the Avs really only have the 1 spot, theoretically.
Players aren’t just going to sign here for 1 year for cheap just to have an opportunity to battle with a bunch of other guys for a chance at a spot in the lineup. That’s what PTOs are for.
We need to try to fine the best option for that spot. I don’t think any of the guys recently signed filled that requirement.
Sampo Ranta is on there, too... I dont think this means anythingBen Meyers is listed on the Avs NHL.com roster page this morning.
Teams don’t include unsigned RFA’s in that list, so I’m assuming we’ll hear extension news today.

Honestly not sure these pages are of any real relevance. That is weird… oh well could be nothing. I just noticed it because Colton is still missing, but Meyers was added. OO was removed.
Wouldn't surprise me to start the season with 2-3M in cap space.I don't think the Avs are really in a rush to do much. They have plenty of room to sign these cheap guys, but clearly don't want to pull the trigger.
Me too. In Manchester United :-PNot sure how to get it done, but I want Kane.
Absolutely, and like I said, I don't disagree with the fact that his career is most likely done. Or if it's not, it will be very limited to say the least. But honestly, I want him to what's best for him. There is more to life than hockey.
That would surprise me... but more that the math doesn't check out. 6.8ish now. Say Colton takes 4. Then Pavel and Meyers at ~1.7 leaves 13F 7D 2G. With one roster space to go if they want to carry Malinski that adds up to 2.5ish. So 6.5m out of 6.8m. If they don't sign somebody, I think the odds of running with 22 or 23 in the NHL is pretty high since they won't accrue anyway. Which will leave about a mil left.Wouldn't surprise me to start the season with 2-3M in cap space.
Yeah I could accept that. They might also have the 4C spot depending on what they want to do with Meyers.
Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Lehky - RyJo - Mikko
Wood - Colton - ????
Cogs - ???? - LOC
Olofsson
I'd say there's a good chance Meyers will be penciled in at the 4C spot, but if they can get a guy like Suter for $1M, it might be worth exploring. And if Sundqvist only got a league minimum deal, it certainly feels like Suter or even Nosek for like $800k-1M is a possibility.
It would have to include Girard. G+Behrens+ JGP@50%+RomanovTrading with Islanders for Pageau at (50%. 2.5 k), and the third line Wood-Pageau-Ross
Could be amazing

You could change any of the Pavel, Meyers, and Malinski names with any rando PTO.

I'm by no means an orthopedist, but I think Lonzo being a basketball player a sport that involves jumping and putting much more pressure on that joint. At the least it's very different usage between the two sports so I don't see Lonzo being much of an analog. The Lonzo stuff is pure speculation at this point. He only had the surgery a few months prior to Landy. We also have Jordan Watkins who recovered his career thanks to the surgery.
We don't know if it will work long-term and to what level. I do think it is pretty safe to say we see Landy on the ice again at some point. He is a warrior that has played through a ton in his career, he will give it a go. How long that lasts and at what level of play remains to be seen.
That’s rough because 1 injury already starts to put guys in top 6 roles that aren’t suited for it. Or it forces a guy to play 3C that isn’t suited for it.I'm pretty sure that LOC is gonna be the 3RW this year. I think that hope should probably fade. Wood-Colton-LOC is the penciled in 3rd line.

Towards the end of the season, that isn't a big deal. You can always find teams willing to take on cap for 2 months. Yeah money in-money out, but they can send down Meyers, Pavel, and Malinski to free up a couple million. Getting any targeted player with double retention will drop their hit to roughly that.Trade deadline will be tricky.
If the Avs want to add, barring more LTIR space, it’ll have to be a money in-money out situstion

Bednar doesn't really care about that in his bottom 6. Skate and battle.None of these guys can pass the puck
In fairness alot of players remain there after their playing days.Where I got them from said St Louis... having spent time in both, East is definitely worse, but St Louis is also very run down. If you're at all downtown it is pretty rough. Even to the south in Dutchtown is pretty bad.
