Really failing to see what management's idea for this season is after watching two quality bottom 6ers go for really cheap 1 yr deals. I understand there has to be mutual interest, but still frustrating to watch guys go so cheap that would make the team better.

Signing real NHL depth on the cheap can go a long way to making the team better. Something that CMac/Sakic are missing the boat on IMO. You don't have to take flyers on guys with ? to get a cheap deal on a decent role players.

I wish they'd dump MacDermid. No reason to be paying a guy basically $1M to sit in the press box all year. Bednar doesn't trust him at all and rightfully so. They've got more then a few guys that will be regulars in the lineup willing to fight when needed as well.

That $1M could easily be spent better elsewhere.

Meh. I'm fine with Frank for this year honestly. He has his warts, but he has consistently put up damn good numbers for us.

I dont think we'd get anywhere near the same level of goaltending with a $1M backup. The issue with Frank is his health however. We really need him to be able to play more then 16 games next year to keep George fresh.

That way you can also then allocate that ~$1M I space from Frank next summer to Toews extension.

I think they have a deal on the table maybe something like Senko but only if they have the cap after Colton re signs

From all accounts he's a great locker room guy, so i'm okay with him being around. Losing EJ, Landy, and Compher is a pretty big change to the locker room. With that being said, trade him at the TDL if we need space.

As the 3rd line, we're big cup favorites again IMO. They really should trade G for a legit Top 6 forward. Or for draft picks and then flip those picks for a Top 6 forward like Konecny.

Would happily take a Konecny for G swap, but the dream still is finding a way to get Kane for free (asset wise at least). Trade G for the best futures/prospect possible. Sign Kane to a 1 year deal.

Just because you have the money doesn't mean spend it poorly. Give a chance to the unknown in Malinski instead of giving it to the very bad Foote.

I wouldn't trust Malinski or Foote... but really the Avs are going to be limping along the bottom pairing anyway. Provided they are healthy (insert lolz) one of Byram or G will be on the right side of JMFJ. When injuries hit, Bednar is gonna ride the top 4 like a hooker needing coke.

Byram and Girard both jumped to the Right side last year at times. I'd rather do that again then sign Foote quite frankly. And I'd trust Malinski over Foote.


The only way they should be doing anything with the Defense IMO is if they make a trade, since nothing in the UFA market is confidence inspiring outside of Dumba who I don't think we could afford.

I think at this point it should just be a deadline fix if it needs fixing at all.

Do people complaining that we didn't sign various 'qvists understand that Free Agency is a two way street? The player has to want to sign a contract here. Just because they signed somewhere else for cheap doesn't mean they would sign the same contract here, if they wanted to play here at all.
