Who cares about regular season. Playoffs is what matters:
Lehk - Mac - Drouin
Nuke - RyJo - Rant
Wood - Colton - Lando :)
Cog - Meyers - LOC
Add: trade deadline acquisition middle 6 forward for depth
Rock & Roll baby!
The reason the regular season matters is because it’s an attrition.

The less depth you have up front, the more reliant on the main guys. The more reliant on the main guys, the more wear and tear and possibility for injuries before playoffs.

I’d rather the Avs have a nice easy regular season so that they can be fresh for playoffs.

What’s Kassian love all about? All I remember him doing in that Oilers series was that goal he fluke tipped but mostly just running around trying to hurt guys and not actually playing hockey

Not sold bringing a former addict around Nuke is an amazing plan
Dude had a great set of chops

This is spot on. And exactly why this offseason has been frustrating at best. The depth still sucks and it's going to be a carbon copy of burnt the f*** out for the playoffs as last year.

I know chemistry will take time with all the new guys , but I’m genuinely curious/enthusiastic about this season (more than after the cup, knowing the shorty season and the dreaded cup hangover was a real possibility). Even Drouin , when you have a superstar like Mack going out of his way to get him to sign here , that HAS to be a super booster for Drouin and how could he not play as hard as possible right?

The teams needs work if they intend to lift the cup, there shouldn't be any other goal.

Another top six winger + 3rd liner are a must. Ideally a #4C and a depth Dman as well.

With what cap space, exactly, do you propose we get four more players that meet those criteria? I don't think even trading Girard for picks would get you the space you'd need to magically make a perfect team like that.

Not saying the Avs need to add all that now. However, they need to have a successful active deadline in order to really compete. The offensive depth is just not there atm to go all the way.

Lol

You think this team needs 4 players still to contend for the cup... Lmao.

I can get the frustration of this offseason. A few things have to go right for the Avs to actually be better. As a breakdown we pretty much have this swap:

ERod to Drouin
Compher to RyJo
Newhook to Colton
Helm to Wood
Malgin to Olofsson
EJ to Malinski

As a whole I'd say the group to the right is a significant step up... but there is a significant amount of risk. Drouin plays a less sound and tenacious game compared to ERod, but he's got a lot more talent. RyJo is a lot more talented than Compher, but is coming off a bad season and is old. Colton is a very clear upgrade on Newhook in every way. Wood also a clear upgrade if he's healthy, big if. Olofsson is a better 4th line fit, but worse player than Malgin. Malinski is a mystery box, but I'd say a downgrade clearly right now.

Next season will basically come down to how RyJo, Wood, and Drouin pan out. If RyJo sucks and Colton has to be 2C, I'm not sure the Avs are really better off. If Drouin sucks, then the Avs need to make a top 6 wing move. If Wood is a 4th liner, the Avs just locked themselves into a 1.5m overpay for 6 years. Odds are all 3 won't pan out and all 3 won't fail... so, truth falls somewhere in the middle.

The one that NEEDS to happen is RyJo rebounding and giving a F. Considering he'll be playing for his career (Avs will buy him out if he fails), I think he'll rebound.
