Fortescue is looking like a solid pick. Should be making it tough to cut him from the WJC team as well.

That BC team is something else though with that line.

Edit: Celebrini is on BU not BC oops!
Don't worry, Hagens is a BC commit for next year. I don't know if all of the USA line will stick around, but Perreault likely will. Gauthier probably gone. Perreault and Hagens on the same line could be fun to watch.

You never know who drops. Didn't expect Perreault at 23
Yeah just in the last few years you have like Rob Thomas, McMichael, Wyatt Johnston and Mavrik Bourque both going to Dallas, Lambert, Lapierre, etc. I know not all of those guys are established but they're all quality, upside centers who were around in the 20s. There are more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Exactly. You don't trade your first round pick. We were lucky to have two last year and make sure we gave up the lower of the two.

I’d rather have the high end shooter to play with him. Those guys can be had in the 20s

At least 10.
Yep could even had taken Ziemmer in the third round.

I remember we signed Kreider and he jumped right into the playoffs. Then next season it was clear he wasn't ready to play a regular role in the NHL. He was like a .5PPG player in the AHL and he was older and much more physically mature than Othmann. He eventually got it, but even the next year he was sent down for a bit.

JT Miller is probably the other successful forward we drafted and developed that you can look at. He was up and down from the AHL. He was younger than Othmann when he turned pro, but Miller wasn't a permanent NHL player until he was 22 or 23.

Othmann looks fine in the AHL. He doesn't look dominant but he doesn't look at all out of place to me. What he'll become at the NHL level remains to be seen, but there's time for that to play out. I'll say, though, that I have not been as high on Othmann as many around here, but I find much more encouraging about his season than I find discouraging.
If Othmann never makes it to the NHL it won’t be from a lack of effort.
Listened to an interview with Anton Blidh yesterday where Blidh mentioned that Othmann came to him with some questions about improving his play and Blidh and Othmann stayed pass practice to help Brennan work on it.

20 points in his last 11 games! He’s basically a 2 point a game player as a Freshman (total of 13 games but it took him 2 games to adjust where he scored zero ;))

He’s on pace for over 70 points as a freshman, that is f***ing insane.

Isn't a standard NCAA season 36 games? If so, 20 points in 13 games would put him on pace for 55 points. Did you by any chance calculate for 48 games instead?

NCAA stats don't usually differentiate between 'regular season' and tournaments, so it depends on how far BC goes. If they get to the championship, which seems highly probable, you're looking at 40+ games.

Eichel scored 71 in 40 his pre draft season

Ya like @Fitzy said, i was counting the tournament as well, which I assume they will go far in, sorry should have clarified that.

Great just what the Rangers need, their top prospects learning from players that can't make the NHL full time. 🙄

In 50+ years of fan-ning, can only think of 1 star-level guy who excelled at developing young players - Oates
Fabulous weekend, and you gotta work hard to find a complaint?
Chill and enjoy, it’s way more satisfying and healthy

The same way players in New York are learning from Dan Muse who *checks notes* never played in the NHL?

Anton Blidh has played more NHL games than Jared Bednar, Jon Cooper, Bruce Cassidy and Barry Trotz combined. Those 4 coaches have won 5 of the last 6 Stanley Cups as a head coach. They teach NHLers and help them develop.

But Anton Blidh can't help Brennan Othmann improve? What a joke.
