I could've seen Karlsson hang on to the "generational" tag if he'd been more consistent. Instead he had a few truly historic seasons, but flamed out quickly. Though that likely had a lot to do with injuries and being on less than stellar teams. Ovechkin's 36 and still one of the best goal scorers in the league. Crosby's 35 and still plays near a hundred point pace every year. Karlsson is 32 and everyone's mostly like "yeah he used to be real good."

Karlsson really f***ed his foot up by playing on a fractured heel in 2017 playoffs.

He was still 26 in those playoffs and had already won 2 Norris trophies and came in 2nd twice. And the competition for the Norris trophy in those seasons was insane.

He’s never been the same since, it’s ridiculous that one the greatest players of his generation permanently damaged his foot so the Ottawa Senators could lose in Game 7 of the ECF (aka not win anything).

I’m not going to look it up but I remember Karlsson’s description of the ankle surgery was both gnarly and depressing.

Cooke really should have been thrown out of the league for doing that to Karlsson. Even if it wasn't deliberate he should have known how dangerous a position he was in and been more careful with his skate.

I thought Karlsson had a pretty decent season for the Sharks. He had a pretty poor one in 20-21. Didn’t score a whole lot that year. Didn’t really do much of anything good that year, other than managing to play a much higher percentage of games. He appeared in 52 (which is about his usual and average games played over the last 4 years) games, only that’s almost the entire year when it’s only a 56 game season.

His last 4 years he’s played 53, 56, 52 and 50 games.

He’s almost a safe bet to miss 30 games at this point, unless it’s a shortened season.

I've never seen a player with so many various shot release points, all of which are elite. Conor Bedard is special -- he's just going to score like crazy wherever he plays.

Bedard can be skating at full speed with a defender covering him with a strong gap, and it just doesn't matter. Bedard's hands are outstanding -- he can dangle, and when dragging the puck he can release an elite shot with one of the quickest unleashes I've ever seen from any point during his dragging of the puck, no matter if he's skating fast or slow, vertically or laterally.

Now, I'm not saying Conor Bedard will wind up being the best player in the NHL, or even from the 2023 draft class. It's too early yet, and this is a special draft class all the way through. But I will say he's going to score a whole lot of goals in the NHL. Barring injury, I'd guarantee it.
Yeah yeah I know. Who is better player overall? Ovechkin or Crosby? And I like Ovechkin very much. Both are great, but Crosby won 3 SC.
Mitchkov outscore Bedard for his league and in some tournaments. Karlsson is very talented player overall. Im not saying they are better overall for now. Im saying 1) im not buying the hype 2) im ranking not only prons 3) all three looks awesome for now 4) im not done to say who is clear number one as a player, and im not saying that Bedard isn't 5) no matter which answer we will have for 1,2,3 4, Bedard will be number one pick.

Im not a customer, Steve. I came to check.

As in Das?
Sorry, man, I don't know the root of the joke. If it is the real last name, may be it pronounced "D AA S" like U in word "cut". Does it have anything to do with the neuter preposition in German? But I belive there is something funny and I'm trying to explain something that doesn't need to explain and feel stupid because of that.

There was a movie from Germany called Das Boot about a submarine.

The US takes on Czechia later today in the Quarterfinals. The highly anticipated Luke Hughes-Petr Hauser showdown that has the world hockey press holding their breath. The IIHF website says the game is at 20:30 but whether that is local time, Greenwich mean time, or some other time, I have no idea.

He also had that Achilles Tear, which you rarely see guys really bounce back from. Who knows how much different his development would have been.

With so many returning players Latvia should be a ton of fun to watch at the 2023 event

I really like Fantilli right now, too -- he looks like he can push for the top 3 overall, as well. The 2023 class is stacked with talent. It's going to be fun, although I expect the Devils to draft in the 10-20 range and not be a team in the mix for the top overall pick.

Hey! our other player in the tournement touched the puck! Wooot wooot!!:cheer::party::partytime:

I'm finding myself wanting the Czech team to win this game. Just would want none of the goals to happen when Hughes is on the ice.

Luke is sick

Yes . He played the 2on1 perfectly. Not clue what the hell Faber was doing taking his sweet ass time coming back. They almost scored after the 2on1
Exactly, he should've covered the front of the net. Almost cost them.
