My Team:

Excluding: Drysdale, Sillinger, Byfield, Bourque, Perreault

Perfetti Lapierre Jarvis
Johnson Wright Wisdom
Neighbours McTavish M.Savoie
Foerster Stankoven Evangelista

Power Zellweger
Guhle Clarke
Lambos Nelson

Cossa
Garand
Brochu

Extras: Bourgault, Cormier
Neighbours should play on a line with Guenther. Let McTavish centre it. Another line should be Perfetti and Byfield with Wright. Then Jarvis, Lapierre and Johnson.

A lot of skill available in this forward group. Where are the checkers though? Do we have any Liam Foudy, Dudas.

Edit: Oh man, I forgot some gritty names like Othmann, Sourdif, Bourgault, Johnston, Grieg, Bourque, Stankoven. Which one isn’t making the team? Jeez.

Byfield gonna be ready with his broken foot?

Spectacular news re: McTavish! I'm a little surprised by it, but the right decision was made for his development. I hope he gets in at least 6 OHL games before heading to Calgary.

I'm hoping it's going to work out timing wise for Byfield. looks as though we'll be missing Sillinger, Jarvis and Drysdale. A gold medal contending team. I'm expecting another Canada v USA GMG on the 5th.

Some people mentioned that age doesn't matter, so I purposely built this Team white with all 19 years old and Team red with 18 years old and underagers. Let's say that they play 2-3 red and white exhibition games. Please try your best comment constructively to which team will likely to win the mini-tournament:

Team White- player name (age):

Perfetti(19) Johnson(19) Foerster(19)
C. Savoie(19) Bourque(19) Bourgault(19)
Greig(19) Lapiere(19) Evangelista(19)
Foudy(19)

Power(19) Cormier(19)
O’Rourke(19) Thompson(19)
Sebrango(19) Hunt (19)

Team Red - player name (age):

Neighbours(19) Wright(17) Guenther(18)
Othmann(18) M. Savoie(17) McClennor(19)
Bedard(16) McTavish(18) Stankoven(18)
Bolduc (18)

Guhle(19) Clarke(18)
Lambos (18) Prokop (19)
Zellweger (18) Ceulemans(18)
Zloty(19)

Notable not inevitable to camp due injury and NHL commitments- Wisdom, Byfield, Sillinger, Jarvis, Drysdale.

Fan disappointment that Perrault is opting to not play for Canada when he is on the top 10 AHL scorers. I am very disappointed with how HE handled the situation. HC needs to be a better salesman. They took Sanderson, so HC should be able to lure Perrault, but they failed.
This AHL season is tougher to play than last year's season due to the removal of the NHL taxi squad, and he managed to be on the top 10 scorers, WOW!

I feel like one thing that is slightly under rated with this group is just how great the goaltending should be. At the very least I would be more then comfortable with either of Cossa or Garand as a starter to go through the tournament with nd there is good/great goalies behind them as well.

Yes, I like our goaltending setup this year. Team looks good. and am hyped for the tournament to get going.

agreed, on paper at least looks to be a rather strong team.
Not real weaknesses this year and some good players will be left off the team that would’ve definitely made it in years past.

Watching the women's rivalry series they just said on Tuesday during the broadcast of their next game they have a massive announcement I wonder if it might be the training camp roster the timing seems about right. That or maybe new jersies

As a biased Winnipeg ICE STH, would really hate to see Lambos and Savoie cut from this team. Savoie has been unbelievable and you could make a case that Lambos has been the best D in the Dub this year.

The forward depth is insane so McClennon and Milne (I know undrafted blah blah) not making it or getting invites in the case of Milne wouldn’t be too surprising.

What a stacked roster! If Byfield joins then there's 3 C's with NHL points, plus Perfetti who's played C for 1.5 seasons in the AHL now.

C Savoie - Byfield- M Savoie
Neighbours - McTavish - Guenther
Bourgault - LaPierre - Bourque
Johnson - Perfetti - Wright

If Byfield doesn't get loaned then I would slide Matt Savoie to C on that line and bring in his RW McClennon.

I personally really like Stillman. But he is probaly not making it.

How is it that Perfetti is allowed to play in the AHL and not have to go back to junior? I understand last season's issues with the Ontario gov't being complete idiots and not letting them play, but what's the deal with this season?

The AHL exception last season was extended to the same players this season.

Ahh, didn't hear that - but at least it makes sense. I feel like they need to change that rule so that if you're at least in draft year +2 or +1 if you're a post Sept.15 birthday (aka your last season of Junior eligibility) you should be able to play in the AHL at least. I get the CHL's position and I think it's fair to expect their players who don't make it to the show to come back for their draft +1 season, but draft + 2 makes no sense for most high-end prospects. As long they are released to play in the WJC, they should be able to move up.

With McTavish (and possibly Byfield) coming back Savoie is going to have a harder time making this team I think but I wouldn't hesitate with him and McLennon on the roster. I think it may come down to him vs Wright for a final spot which is tough because undoubtedly Savoie has been the superior player so far this year but Wright likely fits better in a 4th line centre role.

I have to say I didn't see anything real standout from Lambos the games I watched (he was solid) but Mikey Milne is an absolute animal. I would have zero concerns bringing him for a 4th line/PK role. That kid's motor just never stops. It's just so hard with the depth available this year.

Has anyone watched Tucker Robertson this year. I've watched a decent amount of the OHL, but haven't watched him are his numbers legit?

Tyson Foerster looks like he'll be out for the tournament with a shoulder injury. This team is getting hit hard with injuries and players sticking with their NHL team.

Possible players Hockey Canada might be missing:
Foerster (out for sure)
Wisdom (could be healthy in time)
Bourque (could be healthy in time)
Drysdale
Sillinger
Jarvis
Byfield (could be healthy in time, but might be in NHL anyways if healthy)
Perreault (switched nations, but Hockey Canada is to blame there imo)

Canada still have the depth no other nation is close to. So dont worry too much.

Sweden is probaly gonna be without Raymond and Holtz.

Yeah - they are.
Hes an ultra competitive forward who isn’t afraid to go into the dirty area’s of the ice. He p
Is a great skater, and has a good shot.
He’s one of the best at faceoffs in the OHL this year and kills penalty’s too, guy does it all.

He apparently used the time off from covid to work damn hard and it looks like going undrafted has only fueled him further.

If you ever get a chance to watch him you’re going to say to yourself “How did this guy go undrafted”?
He has legit potential to be a first round pick in this years draft.

Canada looks somewhat shallow at RW with Foerster out. I'm curious if M. Savoie will get a serious look for one of those spots.

I don't think Foerster would have made the team. Matthew Savoie will be in the team but not his brother. Top two RW spots should be Guenther ànd Savoie. It wouldn't surprise me to see Connor Bedard on the 3rd line with McTavish and Othmann.

Foerster scored nearly 40 goals two years ago in the OHL, and has been playing well in pro hockey ever since. He's 19, 6'3 200lbs, with a missile of a shot. He absolutely would've been on this team and would've been a weapon on the PP.

We have more than enough centers who will probably just move to wing for the tournament. The way Savoie is playing he would be a lock on any other country, and should play for Canada. Guenther, Savoie(s), Bourgault, Bedard, Wright, Stankoven, Stillman, Wiesblatt, etc. are all RW options depending on who's available to play center.
