What a blow to TC as i think Jacob Perreault maybe the best right winger in this year WJC.
Perreault would have a hard time cracking TC roster. Guenther and Matthew Savoie I would for sure pick before Perreault for right wing.

Yes. There are a lot of competitive teams in the tournament, but we should be the heavy favorites like usual.

Is there any chance we get Jarvis loaned? Too lazy to look into his games played and situation. What do you guys think the defense looks like? I've watched a bunch of OHL games and O'Rourke has been fantastic every game I watch. I think the top-6 shapes up something like

Guhle-Clarke
Power-Cormier
Lambos-O'Rourke
Ceulemans, Zellwegger

I see great players at every position. O’ Rourke I’m not sure about but otherwise this team is great. Would you not compare this to previous WJC teams very favourably? Maybe I’m higher on Cossa than others are here - goaltending is often what holds us back. Xavier Bourgault is around 2 PPG and is being left off rosters. Any other teams leaving off guys tracking at 2PPG?

I think we're as much of a favourite as we are every year. Cossa is definitely our best goalie since Hart though, so we should feel safe in net. Bourgault is definitely playing like he should be on the team, although where he slots up will be decided when we finally see what forwards are available. Like I said in my last post, I'm curious if we get Jarvis, because he would most likely be our top RW. But without him:

Perfetti-Lapierre-Guenther
Johnson-Wright-Foerster
Neighbours-McTavish-Bourgault
Grieg-Bedard-Stillman

I think that forward group has a great shared amount of skill, and the ability to be pests on the forecheck. I still think Bedard should play in a minor role. I know Hockey Canada doesn't play non-drafted players that much but he would be top-9 in every other nation, if not top-6 on most. I've watched a lot of Stillman, so including him is probably my bias, but you could sub him out for a guy like Evangelista, Othmann, Wiesblatt, etc.

If we have McTavish its an embarrassment of riches. Is there any way that team doesn’t win gold?

Other than the 2005 team losing is always a reasonable possibility. Looks like a deep group of forwards, solid defence, likely good goaltending. Cameron is probably (hopefully) a good coach for this level, even considering a mishaps that doesn't require mention. The roster will be good enough to win but we need to see how well players work together.

Wheeler from TheAthletic put out his projected roster (Drysdale was the only player that he assumed would be unavailable) and predicted a Canada gold medal. He called Cormier a lock on defence, but outside of Bob McKenzie I don't think that anyone conferring lock status really matters.

World junior 2022 roster projections: Scott Wheeler picks the teams and medals

L'Heureux McTavish Foerster
Neighbours Lapierre Sourdif
Wright, Bourque

Power Cormier

Who is the U20 Canada D-man O'Reilly?

I'm assuming you meant O'Rourke. I doubt Byfield or Sillinger get loaned down, and Bourque is injured. Don't like Sourdif's odds of making it either.

Yes I should have typed O'Rourke. Sourdif and Bourque were the only two picks that Wheeler felt were iffy at forward, for whatever that's worth.

That's what I figured, but you never know...there could be a Canadian out there somewhere playing elite level hockey that I never heard of. It could happen. I can't track them all.

Neighbours provides a good boost in Canada’s bottom-6, him and Greig should be a fun duo to watch getting under their opponents skin.
Lapierre has been impressive wearing the maple leaf in the past so its great we get to see him in the WJC. Should slot in the top-6.

Zary is back from injury. Is he still elligable? How bout Holloway, Schnieder & Barron?

McTavish with a goal and 14:29 TOI. I think it's safe to say we can move him to the won't be available column.

By the way, M. Savoie only 17 and Guenther is only 18. This is 19 years old tournament. J. Perrault is already playing in his 2nd AHL season.

Savoie does not have the same level of shooting ability as Perrault yet. Guenther does not have the same stickhandling ability and IQ yet compared to Perrault. Both Savoie and Guenther would not put up the same number if they are in the AHL. Both are still 18 and 17.

Unless another Jake Walman/Colton Point situation arises, which seems unlikely, he's gone. He was a bubble candidate to make the team for most people, whether right or wrong. Sounds like he has a fairly... secure position on the American team from his RDS interview and given that he grew up playing in Chicago for so long, all the best to Perreault. Hope he loses the tournament, just as I do for every other player on a non-Canadian team, and if he plays well then good for him.

What is with your 19 year old fixation? It's a tournament for elite U20 players ages 16-19. And while the vast majority of players will be 19, elite teams always have a peppering of the underagers. I'd rather take an elite 17 year old than some random 19 year old 5th. rd. pick. but that's just me. There are always 4-8 underagers on the team. on most teams.

Assuming the guys who are in the NHL stay there and we get Wisdom/McTavish back here is my proposed line-up. Names in bold I consider locks:

Perfetti - Lapierre - Guenther
Johnson - Wright - Wisdom
Greig - McTavish - Foerster

L'Heureux - Desnoyer - Neighbours
extras: Bedard, Stankoven

Power - Clarke
Guhle - Thompson

Hunt - Nelson
Extras: Cormier, O'Rourke

Cossa
Garand

Gaudreau

As always it's a deep forward group to draw from with plenty of good players on the outside looking in. In the end I went with the chemistry of Desnoyer/L'Heureux and expect the fourth line to be an absolute nightmare to play against. Good balance of scoring and two-way play on the rest of the forward group with some chemistry mixed in. Bedard and Stankoven are my extras for a little seasoning in preparation for next year. The defense is really missing Drysdale as the RD pool is quite weak. I have Nelson making it as an underager as result of that. I think the goalies are obvious with Gaudreau being my last pick to get some experience for next year.
I believe Zellweger plays on the right side as a left shot, so he could slot in on that right side if you want.

There has to be more to this story, the fact he wasn't invited to last years camp or the summer camp has me thinking he wasn't in HC's plans and they aren't all that upset about losing him?

My Team:

Excluding: Drysdale, Sillinger, Byfield, Bourque, Perreault

Perfetti Lapierre Jarvis
Johnson Wright Wisdom
Neighbours McTavish M.Savoie
Foerster Stankoven Evangelista

Power Zellweger
Guhle Clarke
Lambos Nelson

Cossa
Garand
Brochu

Extras: Bourgault, Cormier

Good news on the Bourque injury front. looks as though he's progressing nicely rehabbing that shoulder. and could be, just maybe -fingers crossed - back in action by early December.

I appreciate the extent to which HC is often a political beast, but in my view Carter Savoie (University of Denver, 2002 birth year) should get a very long look — significantly longer than his younger brother, Matthew.

Not saying the older Savoie should make the roster, but in my view he’s flat out earned the opportunity to be in the mix for a role up front. His upward trajectory fascinates me and I can’t think of what more he’d need to do in NCAA action to show HC that he belongs on the radar.

Performance should trump pedigree, and Carter Savoie has really performed well with Denver. I’d be watching him very closely.

Seeing as he is a NCAA commitment that plays in the USHL I doubt it, but any chance Fantili gets a camp invite? Hard to compare league strength but he’s been better than Bédard this year in my opinion, reminds me of Malkin, what a player
