Glad to here they will play. Interesting result Moncton defeats RNS. Moncton is very skilled, deep team… it was a close game but I’d say overall Moncton would win 3 out of 5 times. Patterson and Louis bury were a force out there.

I caught the last half on the facebook feed, the play by play guy for the Moncton feed is impressive, anyone know who he is? For Moncton it was their 3rd game in 3 days , RNS is a good fast skating Team, maybe lacking a bit of high end talent, but well coached and they work hard. Kearsey was just OK from what I seen, I can't put him in the class of Coughlin, MacKinnon or other first rounders from last year. Smith was very good, I would like to see him compete a bit harder for pucks, but overall a very nice player.
Best rookies on the Moncton squad, Gill and Leard by a landslide. Everytime I see the Leard kid i have to take a 2nd look, he is fast tracking up the ranks IMO. Gill QB's PP1 for Moncton and is very good at holding that blue line in the o-zone.
Final shots 34-24 Moncton according to the feed.

I agree about Gill being the hands down top rookie on Moncton. The others are ok but I just don’t see what the CSR guy in Moncton sees about the others. Leard played the wing with top guys all season he’s bound to tap a few in or get a few second assists.

Valid point on Leard, however Miller, Kennedy, Waugh, Peitsch, all the top prospects play with the best players on their respective teams because they can, they are flat out good and they can compliment a line rather then bring it down. I am not putting Leard in the top 2 rounds, just saying his stock is rising and he is turning some heads.

Not much going on with this page, any word on any prospects?

In QC, games started back only 1 week ago. With a small sampling, can not talk much about players, but I will trow some observations about teams, as a start. Please add from there!

Magog definitely one of the top team, and all players seems to contribute. Reading interviews with Robidas, seems a player’s coach and those and all in with the system. 18 goals in 3 games last week-end

Jonquiere, is competitive in every game. Besides the first 10 games or so, since they got their 17 yo back, they are transformed. Defensively, still need to improve to win games, but they are no longer a sure win for any one.

Amos is also on the same theme, can score, but allow also a ton of goals.

Viking, with the loss of their best player are back where they started. They had a slump mid fall, but it seems over.

Lévis, Chateauguay and Trois-Rivières are also very good teams to watch until the end of the season with many interresting prospects for early rounds to follow.

Saw Magog in St-Hyacinthe last week. They are very impressive I agree as they basically destroyed the Gaulois. There are 3 prospects that we didn't mention in the last few months who caught my eye: Evan Depatie, Guillaume Filion and Antoine Fontaine. I know they won't be first rounders but they will go in the first four rounds I'm pretty sure.

I wonder what's Wintersun read on these prospects.

Some scouts do have Fillion as a first rounder. To me, he is likely to go in round 2. Big fan of Fontaine and I know some teams really like Depatie as well. Both will go in the first 4 rounds.

Wintersun, what do you think of the the 2006 players that play for the Gaulois team ? Any first round potential ?

D'Aigle should go top 5, then Bernier, Beaudoin and Taillefer should go in rounds 2 or 3 depending on teams preferences.

I'm guessing Gilbert goes somewhere in round 4 or 5 as well.

I wonder what will happen with the Dodge Cup for Espoir players. With the consistent covid issues impacting many teams, it is going to be difficult to bring 21 teams together for a big event of that kind. Since the draft have been delayed until July, I don't know if they might not report the Dodge Cup to early May. Same thing for the Gatorade Challenge who could take place at the end of May. There has been only one Espoir tournament this year so it was a good idea to change the format for the Challenge in order to bring more Espoir/RSEQ players this year. Scouting for the current season was easier than the one before for teams but not the best. The same issues exist for Maritimes as well.

All reports from the provincial governments in the Maritimes are indicating that "ALL" Covid restrictions will be lifted by Mid-Late March. This would include , vax pass, proof of vax, masks and most importantly the need for isolation after a positive result or a positive result from a household member. Without the need to isolate, Teams will be able to continue without losing 7, 8 , 10 players at a time. There is light at the end of the tunnel, let's hope for a solid March/April/May of hockey.

Dodge Cup is a go in April for all

Espoir 2nd tournament (St Jerome) scheduled for March 24-27

Gatorade Challenge it to take place sometimes in May, no firm date yet

I was told there is still many covid cases in most Espoir teams around the league. March tournament is an ambitious project. Hope it can be done. Probably a way to learn to live with it since a good percentage of players should be immunized at this point.

Mount program has a couple exhibition games vs the Vito's this weekend.
The Mount U18 won 9-1 while the U17 suffered a 5-3 loss but played well. I think we can all agree without Rylan Benner for the U17 team between the pipes the score would have been a lot worse.
