I agree, I realize I only started here a few months ago and yes I like the prep school side of things but I do not have any plans in leaving 3 months later. I have no ties to these kids or this site. I enjoy the chats and I want to be part of them going forward

Is this the same maritimehockey01 guy that wrote a novel a few pages ago talking negatively about shields and wood, the NB/PEI league and players from Kensington and players from pictou? And also uses terms like “ frankly pisses me off” the same as just looking79 does?
Yes I believe it is the same guy.

Everyone is entitled to their own options. I thought we were done with this non sense

Moving on - let’s discuss the kids, the real reason people are here on this site

I’m not as high on the Moncton players listed. I like Gill the others I’m not as high on as some are. Good players but not first or second rounders in my opinion.
I like all the U18 PEI players listed.[/QUOTE]

Can I ask why you are not high on the Moncton players, never really talked about the Nova Scotia players other than the 4 mentioned, but you like all the PEI players listed ? What makes all the PEI players better ?

Sure… I like Gill I don’t think the other guys from Moncton should be as high as they are. Head scratchers in fact. Take a look at the list and you can figure it out. I like the pei guys that made the list. I know them all and they all should be there. Some should be higher some should be lower. There are lots of good Ns guys a couple not sure how they made list but they did.

Thank you for that and yes I understand what you mean.
Just curious but in this second half how much do you predict the names moving around on this list
Will there be more head scratchers or will the list be as it should be come May ?

Lots of opportunities for movement. You have playoffs, Atlantic championships, and then the Gatorade challenge in Montreal. Obviously hoping these events take place. Lots of 06 kids just getting comfortable at Christmas some will really take off second half with confidence.

After using a quite a different approach (especially wrt Quebec) to scouting this year then the last several years, here is my view of the first round in no particular order (Yes I have a Lalliere in the first round as an 05 - probably wrong - but that is how I see it):

Miller

Carboneau

Kennedy

Wood

Philips

Arseneault
Richard

D’Aigle

Peitzsche

Shields

Lalliere
Poirier

Taillefer

To me, Lallier is not that surprising. I expect him to go early in the second round. He's that dynamic.

I don't know who Recette is. Did you mean Lacerte?

Lanthier, Desruisseaux, Poirier, Litalien are the obvious missing guys here. Poirier is scoring a goal a game which I have not really seen since Josh Roy. I think most teams have him as the best forward in the draft, and most likely the other teams have Litalien or Desruisseaux which are not on the list either. I know scouts who have Lanthier first overall as well. So those would be my surprises, along with Smith who I like but probably seems out of place to me.

The other players on that list are in my first two rounds. In fact, the only player on that list that isn't in my top 2 rounds is Smith, but I still like him.

Just my opinion on your list.

Hey wintersun you seem to be well respected on this board for a number of years now , what is your projected 1st round list as of now , all knowing things will change in the second half .

That saved me a lot of work. 16/18 are in my first round.

Boisvert and Boilard IN, Massé and Fortier-Gendron in round 2.

I agree with your lists , boisvert is 1st round talent but signed letter of intent in us if I’m not mistaken. Also shields and Phillips are unknown as well at this time that may affect there positions if it’s not settled come draft time . Also if this happens fortier- gendron and Miller would sneak into 1st round in my opinion .

100% expect Fortier-Gendron to go first round, easily. But I have him in the second round on my personal list. Just a matter of preference. Miller could go in the first round and I would not be surprised.

The strength of this draft depends quite a bit on what Shields, Phillips and Wood do at the end of the day. If they decide to go NCAA, the top-end of this draft will be a bit weak.

Looks solid, personally I would add Arsenault, Miller and remove Kearsey and Richard with both of them going in the 2nd round. I think we all agree the U.S. path for the 3 dominant Atlantic players will change the first round dramatically. Let's just hope there is no Sea Dogs shinanigans with these players as we seen with the likes of Lawerence, Reynolds and company in the past.
With D-Aigle prob going early in the first...will that trigger another goalie or 2 to jump the ranks?

LAP2000, that would be a nice haul for Atlantic players....but you have Philips in there twice...so that would make 10 first round picks!

Do you think Boisvert can sneak into the first? He's killing the U15 AAA circuit in the US

Sacha Boisvert signed a tender with a USHL team, he will play for that team next season. He may get drafted in the Q, but he won't be playing in the Q.

He's a top 5 guy for me, probably with the highest NHL upside in the whole Q draft. That said, he will go USHL route.
Sasha Boisvert and Tyler Wood have many similarities, same size, both centers, elite skaters and exceptional 1 vs 1 skills, Tyler Wood is the most physical of the 2. I wonder if he's going the NCAA route as well?
